Rainbow Book Rats: A Queer Romance Podcast

The Rainbow Book Rats are absolutely thrilled to be joined by the magnificent indie author Nik Knight this week, here to tell us all about why Rusty is the underappreciated king of grumpy raccoons (you know it’s true), what is upsetting Lau the dreamwraith this week (it’s Nik’s opinions on who is the best dreamwraith), and whether they’re sorry for the emotional crimes against our hearts they committed in the Fire & Brimstone series (absolutely not, and 10/10 we would go through it again for those angels).

Expect some amazing insight into what Nik’s writing life has been like, what might be coming next, and which books and characters Nik has enjoyed writing the most! Plus a whole lot of laughter and ridiculousness along the way.

Nik has so many different books to check out and you can expect a whole raft of representation including gay romance; transgender, intersex and gender variant MCs; sapphic romance; asexual representation; poly romance; trauma and neurodivergent representation and so much more!

If you’re looking for a new LGBTQ author to read, love urban fantasy and paranormal romance, or just want to learn more about a wonderful person who brings so much heart and laughter to the queer bookish community then make sure you tune in to this week’s episode of Rainbow Book Rats: A Queer Romance Podcast!

Wrap yourself up in your best blanket, grab your rat treats and get ready to burrow in! This Digging Deeper episode’s buddy read is the paranormal MM romance MateHub: Legend by Marie Reynard, chosen by Kit!

The paranormal adult film industry are not prepared for the heat that wolf shifter Richard Knotz is about to unleash when he temporarily mates human Hunter Savage for a series of delicious scenes that will have viewers - and readers - foaming at the mouth. But while both actors expect some seriously hot knotting action, neither of them are prepared for the absolutely feral pull they feel towards each other. Can their relationship last beyond their contracted three months? Get ready for our discussion of this blisteringly hot gay romance!

Of course, no Digging Deeper episode would be complete without one of the BRats bringing us a deep dive into a bookish topic of their choice, and today Caity is serving us a whole cafe worth of joy by digging into the Passing Through Cafe series by Nik Knight. You can expect a lot of laughter, really thoughtful gender exploration, and so many heartwarming moments from this stunning, vibrant urban fantasy series that is really beloved by so many.

Wrap yourself up in your best blanket, grab your rat treats and get ready to burrow in! This Digging Deeper episode’s buddy read is brought to you by Star Shipped by Cat Sebastian, chosen by Caity!

Star shipped is an MM romance filled with banter, heart and a touch of heat. This dislike to lovers comedy sees Simon and Charlie, famous sci fi actors who have been working side by side for seven years in mutual lust and bickering like an old married couple, start up a fake friendship to try and fool fans into thinking there is no drama on set, take a road trip together to deal with a family emergency, learn some hard truths about themselves, and ultimately fall in love. Expect a very cute animal companion, plenty of laughs, lots of sweetness, and a queer romance that will leave you warm long after you close the book.

Of course, no Digging Deeper episode would be complete without one of the BRats bringing us a deep dive into a bookish topic of their choice, and today Caity is showing us why plus size representation is not only important in queer romance, but an absolute delight as well! Get your TBRs ready because there are some amazing book recommendations coming your way on today’s podcast!
