In the Season 4 premiere; Sam and his guest, J.D. Crouse, visit about being raised in Cherry County, Nebraska.  They discuss their upbringing and the lessons and values that were learned along the way.  Shared experiences of rodeos, brandings, country schools, death of parents ( fathers) are discussed.

J.D. explains why he is now an idea man vs a shovel man.  A discussion of working smart vs working hard ensues.   He tells the story of his early career working at the local bank, going into sales, and his early career that lead him to a entrepreneurial career. 

J.D. and Sam conclude the conversation talking about J.D.'s faith journey and how it has evolved.
