Encouragement is one of the greatest gifts a parent can give their child. Godly parents don’t just provide food, shelter, and education — they nurture their child’s spirit with words and actions that inspire, uplift, and strengthen. Think about the story of Barnabas in the Bible. His actual name was Joseph, but the apostles called him Barnabas, which means “Son of Encouragement” (Acts 4:36). Barnabas had a heart for building others up.

Faith is vital — without it, we cannot please God (Hebrews 11:6). But faith without love becomes rigid and cold. Love is the heartbeat of faith; it’s what makes faith visible and real in the everyday moments of life. Godly parents know that teaching their children about God is important, but showing them His love through patience, kindness, and grace is what truly shapes their hearts.

But training isn’t always easy. It takes prayer and perseverance, especially when children push back or when the world’s values try to overshadow godly principles. Yet, when we invest in their spiritual foundation, we prepare them to walk in God’s purpose for their lives.

Loving our children goes beyond just saying, “I love you.” It’s in the time we spend, the patience we show, the sacrifices we make, and the example we live. Godly parents reflect God’s love — a love that is both spoken and demonstrated. Just as God showed His love by sending Jesus (Romans 5:8), we show love by our consistent, intentional actions.

As parents, our love for God shapes the atmosphere of our homes. It influences how we respond to challenges, how we discipline, how we show grace, and how we encourage our children’s faith. When our children see us loving God not just in words but in action, it plants seeds of faith that can grow for generations.
