  • #074:Knowing Arabic but Not Speaking It: Teaching Arabic at Home with 🌟 Umm Maryam @raisingmuslimkidlets

Umm Maryam studied Arabic from age seven all the way to a degree in Jordan. She could read, memorize and conjugate, yet she still hesitated to speak.

Now a mother of four girls, homeschooling in Malaysia, she is changing how Arabic lives in her home: everyday phrases, unit studies, following her daughters' interests, and Quran at the centre of the day.

Her advice if you learned Arabic but can't speak it: start small, stop worrying about sounding perfect, and remember that our children don't need a perfect Arabic lecture. They just need exposure.

  • #073: Desire Before Discipline: Raising Children Who Want Arabic

Why does your child resist Arabic? It's rarely the language itself. It's how Arabic arrives. In this episode, taken from our monthly Mindset and Intention Circle, I talk about desire before discipline: correction, tired days, our own fears, and my story of refusing Arabic for years.

We cannot force desire. We can only create the conditions for it to grow, make du'a, and leave the results to Allah.

Take it further with the 5-day challenge, in the classroom of our free community.

  • #072: Keeping Arabic Alive Far From Home With 🌟 Sally @just a normalmom

Salima grew up in Algeria where, in her words, Arabic was simply the air she breathed. Then she became a mother in the United States, and everything changed.

In this conversation she shares how she built an Arabic home from nothing but intention. She started speaking to her daughter in the womb, narrated entire days to a three month old, and made Algerian Derja the language of her house, long before any formal Arabic.

She also talks about what changed with her second child, why every family needs its own approach, and how storytelling became the thread running through her children's days.

Her closing advice is one every mother abroad needs to hear: you are not teaching your children Arabic, you are teaching them identity.

You can find Salima over on instagram at @just_a_normalmom and check her podcast 'The Little Linguists', a children's podcast telling stories in English, French and Arabic.

  • #070: Language, Identity, and Faith in Bilingual Families With 🌟 Dr. Taylor @ Dr Taylor Ben Yahia

In this inspiring episode, I sits down with sociolinguist and multilingual mother Dr. Taylor Smith-Benyahia for a heartfelt conversation about what it truly means to raise children between languages, cultures, and faiths.

Together, we explore how language shapes identity, why both Arabic dialects and Modern Standard Arabic have a place in our homes, and how mothers can nurture joy and confidence instead of perfection.

Through her research, experience, and personal journey raising her daughter in Algerian Arabic, French, and English, Dr. Taylor reminds us that every word we pass on is more than language, it’s connection, belonging, and love.

🎧 Tune in to listen and be inspired to see language not just as a skill to teach, but as a legacy to live.

It’s a story of struggle, sacrifice, and immense blessing and a reminder that teaching Arabic is not just an academic choice, but a life decision with fruits in both dunya and akhirah.
