  • 025 Why And How to Make An Estate Plan For Your Pets & When the Pavement Can Hurt Your Dog’s Paws.
Have your wondered why your cat must sit on the exact piece of paper that you’re trying to read on the desk or why it particularly jumps up on your friends that don’t like cats? I’ll explain behaviors that may baffle you, but make total sense to your feline.
Then, what would happen to your pets, if you had to be hospitalized for a long period of time, or were delayed for days at an airport, or if the worst happened and you lost your life. However just like you’d arrange for someone to be a guardian to your human dependents if something happens to you, making a plan for who will take and care for your pets,  is just as important and will provide you great relief.  Listen as attorney, Robert Kass, and co-author of the book, “Who Will Care When You’re Not There? By Robert E. Kass and Elizabeth A. Carrie, explains clearly why and how to make an estate plan for your pets.

  • 024 Stories from 9-11: The Dogs That Worked at Ground Zero and a Secret Service Agent’s Tale of Survival
On this 17 year anniversary of 9-11, I’m commemorating the day in two ways:
First, Dan Hughes, the owner of Dogs for Defense, a company of detection dogs that sniff out drugs and bombs was a former secret service agent for the United States. He was reporting to work at one of the towers on 9-11, 2001 when it collapsed.  What he experienced during that event, drove him to want to work with dogs.  Dan is on the show again and you’ll hear his story.
Then, there were numerous search and rescue dog teams that worked at the World Trade Center on 9-11. I’ll share a few of the stories of these dog heroes.

  • 023 Leash Techniques to Stop Your Lunging, Barking dog & Canines Diagnosing Parkinson’s Disease.
You may be inadvertently causing your dog to react aggressively towards other dogs by how you are handling the leash. In this episode find out why this happens and how to easily correct it.
Knowing the job a particular dog was bred to do, not only explains some of the behaviors, but offers you the key to providing positive outlets for your dog’s instinctive behaviors. Also good information to have when choosing to live with a certain breed.  In this episode, I’ll feature one of the most popular breeds in America, the Beagle and you’ll hear about the special role some of them have, working at airports as part of the Beagle Brigade.
Currently, there is no definitive medical screening test for Parkinson’s disease that offers an early diagnosis. Canines, may be the answer for detecting it years before symptoms develop. Hear about the projects that are training dogs to sniff out the disease.
