Idling RAM usage comparison of desktop environments GNOME, KDE Plasma, Xfce, MATE.
This is a proper RAM consumption comparison between the desktop environment. Many videos on YouTube do this poorly and do not give the viewer the true memory usage of the desktop environments. The operating system I used for testing here is Alpine Linux standard-3.19.1-x86_64
Which is a more minimal operating system so it allows me to show you the proper numbers.

This video was created around - and first published on YouTube on 20th February 2024 which means the information was accurate at that time but might get outdated over time since.
