Two homies discover love in a time of quarantine.
He's a welder, She's a stay-at-home something. Together they form a rather functioning marriage.
Which, is a surprise if you consider any facts of the case. We got together and eloped 3 months later. Everyone was surprised.
But there's more to it, about five years more to it.

After another great but more casual conversation with my friend Kells, I was so excited to share Black Ndn Tea with y'all. It was nice to get the perspective of our everyday lives without the weight of a plan. Upon uploading however alot of the MP3 was corrupted and deleted in weird ways. It took me a while to sort out everything but now the full 2 hour episode is up!!!!!
{Both the audio and the flow of the conversation make a lot more sense sorry for not catching it earlier folks}
In short: We talk sh*t.
Tw: discussion of intergenerational trauma, child abuse, misogynoir and anti Blackness.
Kells (@Iamkellingit), joins our host Jordan (@awkwardrambler)…to run our mouths. Sometimes you just need to vent with someone who gets you. Afro Indigenous experiences are wide and varied, but also we are few and far between. Dating, slogans, politics, happiness, anti-Blackness, Colorism, our complicated families. We ask each other about Black Guilt films our parents showed us and the annoyance of simply being perceived in Brown femmes bodies. And the great philosophy of minding my own damn bidness.
Just two people admitting they are complicated and sometimes a mess. All through the duality of Afro-Indigeny.
Background Mewing by Bobby Sue (my kitten)

Urban Forestry in historically Black neighbors brings both reciprocity and food sovereignty. We talk with our guest Kellyn (@KellynLaCour on Twitter) about their work at Baton Root, an urban farm in Baton Rogue changing the tide of Food Apartheid in the Deep South.
What does it mean to be an Urban Forester?
How does urban Land Stewardship help shape the communities around them?
Black Land Stewardship Matters, urban places are still The Land.
Keep Up With Kellyn Here
For more on the term "Food Apartheid" and info about what that means I highly recommend this episode of a podcast called "Point Of Origin."

Over the next two episodes, Kima and I discuss housing disparities in BIPOC communities. From the perspectives of two people marginalized even within their own communities, we talk about the nitty gritties of housing, single parenthood, poverty, and domestic abuse. These factors shape the way people view
How is control over the Land still used against the very people who steward it?
Who in our communities are vulnerable?
How can we be landless and houseless in the very places that belonged to our peoples before the states were even invented?

This week I am joined by our guest Juniper (@wetland_maroon on Instagram). A Rural Radical, and sweet farmer, Juniper talks to us about their journey on healing a parcel of land they received through reparations. We talk about healing the land in tandem with oneself, Afro-Indigency, mutual aid, and sovereingty.
Important Note:
Food Sovereignty and Mutual Aid are tangible ways that poor folks have always used at some capacity to survive. Giving unused baby clothes to a new parent in your community who is struggling is mutual aid. In times like these where Black and Indigenous people are becoming increasingly vulnerable via food/housing instability. It is important we all reflect on ways we can help.
Here are some links to get you started or inform you on mutual aid and the movement for Black/Native food sovereignty:

Season II, Episode 1:
As an homage to spooky season, I decided to open this season with some fun, all be it creepy stories. The first two episodes will relax us into the rest, with stories from the land, and the people in the margins surviving on it.
First a couple of travel stories from Deondre Smiles, and then a dark tale from a lil dive bar from Tyrone! Please come listen to these two awesome storytellers discuss both the supernatural and tangible horror of traveling or living in isolated places.
