I am building an inclusive clothing club. With clothing that gets you outdoors, but feels so good, you’ll keep it on indoors. We are half way through season 2 of the podcast. And this season has focused on prioritizing yourself, making a start and learning while you go, and not taking anything for granted.

In today’s episode, I am joined by Sonny. Sonny is one of the co-founders of ‘Black Trail Runners’, an ultra-runner himself, and recently an Asics frontrunner. In todays episode Sonny provides us with our first ever exclusive – he is writing a book (you heard it here first), as well as campaigning and taking positive action to increase diversity in trail running. The Black Trail Runners have their own podcast called ‘checkpoint’. Which if you haven’t already listened to, is a great podcast. Black Trail Runners have many different initiatives, amongst them the 21 in 21 challenge. To see 21 black runners compete in a trail race in 2021. Series 2 of the podcast is focused on planting a seed, nurturing it, and watching it grow. Because we cannot reap what we do not sow. And if we want to create a life of fulfillment then we need to make sure we are the driver of our bus, and we are not sat as a passenger watching all the other buses fly by in the lane next to us.

In today’s episode, I am joined by Yvonne. Founder of ‘Nett’, and ‘Blank Canvas by Yvonne’ (BCBY). Yvonne has been living in the UK for the past few years, having emigrated from Australia, and previously lived in Norway. Of Ghanaian heritage, Yvonne started Nett (an exfoliator cloth sourced from Ghana) following her 30th birthday. Before launching her handmade resin jewellery and accessories business BCBY during lockdown 1.0 in 2020. Yvonne also has a few secrets up her sleeve, with two, yes two more IG accounts. ‘Cooking with the Hobsons’, and ‘Stars and Stripe Boxes. A real entrepreneur, and just absolute down to earth wonderful human. Yvonne shares her tips and advice on taking that first step and starting a business, not worrying about making mistakes, intentional shopping, and how she is learning to balance obtaining her goals and ensuring her relationships still flourish. In today’s episode, I am joined by Taj. More famously known on Instagram perhaps, as ‘Concrete rose’. A runner, powerlifter, and advocate for black and Muslim women, and indeed any women. This summer Taj is planning to complete in the @sistersofpowerlifting meet. And she set herself a challenge of running in all 50 states. To date she has completed 12. We talk about her experiences of running and powerlifting, her successes, and the challenges that women, in particular black and Muslim women face. In June 2020 India paddled the 28 miles of the royal military canal, raising money for the two minute beach cleans, to encourage women to get involve with paddle sports, and provide solutions to single use plastic. Today I am joined by Rebecca. A certified psychological life coach, cognitive behavioural therapist, and trainee clinical psychologist. In 2019, Rebecca was awarded the ‘Best Newcomer of the Year’ by ‘The Coaching Academy’ at their International Coaching Awards. Rebecca currently has four degrees; Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Clinical Psychology, Masters of Science in Affective Disorders. Post-Graduate Certificate in Low-Intensity Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Interventions and Post-Graduate Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. She has experienced depression, anxiety and low self-worth. And was misdiagnosed, misunderstood, and let down by the health system. Therefore, she is making it her mission to make therapy a safe place accessible to everyone. Given what people have had to endure in 2020, I couldn’t think of a better person to talk to on the last episode. And today I am joined by Helen, who over the last few years has transformed her career and changed the way she lives her life, launching her social enterprise ‘Living Liberte’. As a business owner, and founder of Living Liberte, Helen is passionate and determined to improve the lives of everyone by offering workshops, training and resources on healthy relationships. Through her own experience of violent domestic abuse, Helen is using her knowledge and skills, whilst researching other successful initiatives and businesses, to offer workshops in schools for children and adolescents (pre-COVID, of course). She recently won a Winston Churchill memorial fund scholarship, and has huge plans for 2021 and beyond. Today’s guest is Jackie. Jackie is the founder of the NGO ‘She Can Tri’, based in Afghanistan empowering women through triathlon. In 2020 she trained the first four women in Afghanistan to complete a half Ironman (1.2-mile swim, a 56-mile bike ride, and a 13.1-mile run). And was there to place the medal around Zeinab’s neck when she became the first Afghani woman to complete the Dubai 70.3. She also holds the record for completing 6 Ironman’s in 6 continents in one year. In 2021 she will launch her own clothing brand ‘One January’ to raise awareness for, and increase equality through clothing, by celebrating all those given the birthday of January 1st. Jackie has many outstanding achievements, but what I love so much about this episode is how she describes her most successful moment as those quiet times, working on and finding herself, being surrounded by loved ones.
