A wonderful unbeaten hundred by Joe Root rescued England on day 1 of the Fourth Test. Having won the toss and deciding to bat, the tourists were reduced to 112-5, debutant Akash Deep removing the top three in a fiery spell. But Root steadied the innings that included a century stand with Ben Foakes.
