It’s mid-October and the NX still hasn’t been revealed. Yet instead of sitting and twiddling our thumbs, we decided to do something a bit different. We revisited some forgotten Wii classics, and in this episode of the Random Nintendo Podcast, we’re bringing you four of them and explaining why even in 2016, these are games you need to experience. Of course, that’s not to say there’s no NX news. So in this episode, we’re also diving into recent rumors that the NX may actually play different types of games depending on whether you’re at home or on the go. The Nintendo 64 turns 20. The NES is back in miniature form. 80s arcade-style gaming is alive and well on the eShop. If there’s one phrase that sums up this episode of the Random Nintendo Podcast, it’s “what’s old is new again.” We start off with the latest on the NES Classic Edition, taking a look at just how authentic it will be to its larger 80s cousin. We then look towards NX, analyzing recent comments from top Pokemon Company and Ubisoft executives and what they may mean about the mysterious console. What happens when a familiar gaming face goes to a new place? It’s time to go monster hunting. In this episode of the Random Nintendo Podcast, we return to the world of Monster Hunter to bring you our impressions of the latest entry in the series, Monster Hunter Generations. If there’s one word that sums up this episode of the Random Nintendo Podcast, it’s change. Be it Pokemon Snn & Moon, Metroid Prime: Blast Ball or even the return of Layton, nothing is following in its own footsteps. We start off with the biggest change of them all, Nintendo’s move from two gaming devices to one with reports of NX truly being a hybrid device. Get ready for a one-two punch of nerdom and nostalgia. In this episode of the Random Nintendo Podcast, we report back from San Diego Comic-Con 2016 with our takes on all the show had to offer. We tell of our adventures on the floor, and dive deep into three key parts of the ‘Con that put nostalgia front and center. It’s the middle of the night. You’ve been traipsing through the woods for hours trying to catch that elusive Tangela. All you have to show for it are six Weedle and a Venonat. You’re out of Pokeballs, you have no coins, and the nearest PokeStop is two miles back the way you came. You hear the low rumble of thunder off in the distance. You know what you must do. You know you have to turn back and go home, your Tangela dreams on pause. And while that vine-ball of a Pokemon may stay uncaught for now, you know there is one thing you still can catch: Episode 128 of the Random Nintendo Podcast.

Okay, maybe this isn’t the exact scenario of how you’re listening to us, but there couldn’t be a more fitting episode if it was as discuss the good and bad of Pokemon Go, plus what we want to see the app do next. So much for just one game. While Nintendo’s booth at this year’s E3 may have been focused on only Zelda: Breath of the Wild, the company still had a few surprises in store for us fans.
