Coming from the heat and haze of Atlanta, Ryan Parks - aka Fit of Body - has spent the last couple of years crafting some of the most exciting dance music we've heard in an age. Working with a keyboard, an old drum machine, a bass guitar missing half it's strings, and a vocal delivery so laidback it's horizontal, Fit of Body's music gathers together his influences; hip hop, electronica and noise, to forge something strange and new. Full disclosure - we like him so much we've released his latest record, a 6 track EP called the "Healthcare" EP - which has already had the stamp of approval from the man like Andrew Weatherall (and we believe he may know a thing or two). To celebrate the release of his record, Ryan has put together a mix for us that trawls through his esoteric musical world. There's not too many people who've dropped us mixes that find as much room for the folk guitar of Richard Hawley as they do the boombap rap of AZ, but then there's not too many artists like Fit of Body...

In recent years there have been a number of artists to emerge through the ranks of Italian electronic music. However, from time to time an artist seemingly appears to have morphed from nowhere. Paolo Iocca is an Italian producer who is set to release a new EP on the up and coming record label RA-1 which has recently been responsible for a string or intriguing house and techno EP's upon which the likes of Simoncino and D'Marc Cantu have featured.

Paolo Iocca will feature for a second time on the label with his new EP which also includes a remix from one of electronic music's most mysterious figures, Florian Kupfer. We caught up with the man from Napoli to talk as he contributes to our 'shine a light on' series.

Fred Peterkin is a man of many names; best known for his work as Fred P he also releases under Black Jazz Consortium, FP-Oner, FP197, Anomaly, the list goes on. But no matter what name he picks for each project there’s an unmistakable sound that runs across all his work, and that sound is born from a passionate and unending dedication to underground house music. Hailing from New York City Peterkin has released an impressive number of records over the past decade working with labels like Jus Ed’s Underground Quality and Mule Music alongside his own imprint – Soul People Music. And, while his style is deeply rooted in house music, he is by no means limited to the genre. As well as producing, he’s also a natural DJ who blends expertly applied craft with a simple musical intuition that can’t be taught. With an album under his Adventures of Captain P moniker dropping soon, and him passing through London to play Oval Space, we jumped at the chance to meet up with him in his hotel room and find out what makes him tick.

However, this year marked a new release from the German producer, a six track EP on Kerosene titled 'ad hoc'. It's anything but.

Following our recent introduction to a producer we should have met a long time ago we invited Michael Laven to contribute to our intricate Monday mix series with an assortment of ambient and eclectic electronics.

Across the years he has worked alongside an array of producers and record labels, perhaps most prominently Klang Elektronik. The sculpture of sound is an innovative and individual process by which no two musicians can truly align. Max Graef stems from a background in hip hop, jazz, funk and soul. House plays less of a role in his day to day existence than his releases to date might perhaps indicate. Someone once said that all music, was to a degree a form of jazz. Whether there is much truth in this is debatable, but Max Graef has succintly managed to integrate influential elements from an array of genres within his multi-faceted sound.

This summer Max Graef will play at @farmfestival in Somerset, a festival which has made a name through its tasteful curation and musical eclecticism. In honour of his appearance we were able to reach out to him to contribute to our exclusive Ransom Note mix series for what is a special assortment of sound in motion.
