Styles Upon Styles are a hugely interesting record label flourishing in New York City, they have somehow managed to remain under the radar of many. They predominantly release music on vinyl alongside stylishly designed sleeves, riso prints, cassettes and more. The music they release and push is weird and wonderful, there are no boundaries, expect everything from white noise, beats, drones, techno, ambient and everything in between. This is a label which is all about the music: less the press, pr and associated nonsense which can often go with. It's done for love. Black Booby, well, yes, it's a funny name. However, it is also the name of a very exciting record label which has been delivering some very intersting edits and releases since back in 2012. Run by Richard Rogers, the label has featured the likes of Ashley Beedle, Gene Hunt, Jordan Fields and more. These records have since been endorsed by the likes of Moodymann, Ptaki, Detroit Swindle and more. This is a label all about character, personality, soul and fun and this is certainly expressed in both the interview and mix.

It has been ten days since Manchester based band Working For A Nuclear Free City released their fourth studio album on Melodic records. The band formed back in 1999 and have dabbled in the experimental elements of indie rock, post punk, electronics and nu gaze. Their latest record titled "What Do People Do All Day" could be deemed a social commentary with its fuzzy etched sketchings of blurry bland coloured people merging as one amongst the masses. We spoke to Phillip Kay from the group. Listen to the mix and read the interview below.

Borusiade grew up in the town of Bucharest in Romania, she now resides in Berlin. In recent years she has found herself associated with the alternative sound of club music and nightlife culture and has become a member of the close knit Comeme family. At the start of February she released a five track EP for the label which incorporates her love for the clubs alongside an inspired background of classical music. It's very strong indeed. We asked her to contribute to the Ransom Note mix series and spoke to her about all things music and beyond.

Bahnsteig 23 has been releasing a series of cold-wave edits and synth electro over the last twelve months, surreptitious missives from Berlin, with artists such as Khidja, Jonny 5 and Lipelis. We managed to grab hold of the owner Ziggy Sternenstaub to dig deeper into these rekkids, and he got his commandant General Baha to shape us a mix.

Monday's can be a difficult ordeal, it can be hard to take solace in the day to day sounds of the office and a morning buried beneath the perils of the job. Bop, is an escapism of sort, an elevation of identity. He has released music for the likes of Parachute Records and 291out. He dabbles in the worl of musical improvisation blending krautrock with electronics creating haunting soundscapes and scenes alongside the occasional graceful melody. This mix sees him dig through the depths of eclectisim and wonder, uncomfortable sounds, tones and sit positively alingside subtle rhythms.

Not exactly centuries later, Craig Bratley returns with the second part of his mix set he prepared from his poop deck. Toughening his selection up with some prime bangers and acid house dancers, he introduces us to his creepy automaton ally and also shares some more thoughts on his fascination with the hairy chested 1980's cut-price sci-fi legend that is his style guru - Buck Rogers.

This time out @zoonvansnook has chosen to name it 'Space Oddities' as my tribute to the late genius David Bowie.

"As you will see, the track; artist, or release it comes from, is themed around the cosmos.

You can expect a mélange of musical styles from jazz; electronica; New York post punk; and prog, intertwined with Sci-fi film and Hitchhiker's Guide...samples; soundtracks; library music; and even Bowie vocals floating around in the mix. All of this is stitched together with NASA's electromagnetic space recordings, released to the public last year."

Rotciv's influences run deep, his label Mister Mistery is testament to this as it fuses the classic influences of house music alongside modern day electronic music sensibilities. He has been producing and djing for twenty years now and has released music from the likes of Massimiliano Pagliara, Discodromo and Marius Vareid. His latest release features on the Sprechen label where he steps up to remix a track originally produced by Chris Massey. This mix itself is energetic, driven and guiltily ravey. It makes for a highly danceable hour and is guaranteed to have your head nodding and feet tapping. Trust us.

After becoming reacquainted with Simon Peter through his recent blissful release on Claremont 56, and realising how those sounds helped us through the turgidity of December, we asked him to recreate that across a mix for us. January has only just left us, and bloody hell we need some sunny vibes to tease Spring towards us.
