Main Idea: Our identity in Christ must lead to action for Christ.

I. The Gospel (what God has done for us in Jesus) has practical implications for the Christian life!

a. Obedience has a price.
b. We are called to live a life marked by what we have experienced.

II. One must truly be a Christian in order to live as a Christian.

Application:
1. Make sure you really are a Christian!
2. Live obediently out of your identity in Christ!

1. God desires the power of the Spirit enabling you.

a. You are family.
b. The Spirit brings needed power to you.
c. The wealth of God’s glory is availed to you by the Spirit.

2. The Spirit’s power in us produces Christ-centeredness.

a. Christ at home in your heart
b. The look of the Christ-centered life

3. Praise God and be encouraged! He works in you and through you for his glory!

a. God is powerful to do in you and through you far beyond what you imagine.
b. What he does in you and through you is for his own glory

Main Idea: God’s eternal plan is being revealed through the ministry of Paul and the establishment of the Church!

1. His plan is surprising and gracious!
2. His plan is wise and glorious!
3. His plan is encouraging and unstoppable!

Application:
1. Remember whose you are and not just what you are!
2. Treat others in the Church like how God sees them and not how you see them.
3. Praise God for his glorious grace!

Main Idea: Scripture alone is the sole authority for faith and practice!

I. Scripture is authoritative.
a. It has divine origin.
b. It is of the Highest Authority.

II. Scripture is sufficient.
a. We must not add anything to Scripture.
b. We don’t have to run to the world for wisdom.

Application:
1. Learn the Scriptures!
2. Believe what the Scriptures teach and obey what the Scriptures command!
3. Share the truth of Scripture!

Main Idea: Through the gospel, Christ reconciles sinners to God and sinners to sinners.

I. We were separated and alienated from God.
a. Christless
b. Stateless and Lawless
c. Hopeless and Godless

II. We have been brought near and reconciled by Christ.
a. He abolished the ceremonial law
b. He created a new humanity
c. He reconciled this new humanity to God and one another.

III. We are now identified as God’s people and place.
a. We are citizens of His kingdom.
b. We are members of His family.
c. We are part of His building.

Application:
1. Be committed to the church.

2. Pursue unity in the church.
a. Don’t whine about your preferences!
b. Quickly pursue personal reconciliation in the family of God.
c. Love those that are not like you.

3. Be about the mission of the church.

Main Idea: We are saved by grace through faith for good works!

I. Grace is the cause of salvation.
a. Grace is God’s power at work!
b. Grace secures our salvation.

II. Faith is the means of our salvation.
a. Faith is a confident expression of dependence upon Christ.
b. Faith is the gift of God.
c. Faith rejects salvation by works.

III. Doing good works is the effect of salvation.

Application
1. Humble yourself and glorify God because your salvation is a gift!
2. Work hard from acceptance, not for acceptance.
3. Be encouraged that your salvation is secure!

Main Idea: Remember what God has done to you and for you!

I. Remember who you were apart from Christ!
a. You were spiritually dead.
b. You were a slave to sin, Satan, and self.
c. You were under the wrath of God.

II. Rejoice in what God has done through Christ!
a. He has made us “alive together with Christ.”
b. He has “raised us up” with Christ.
c. He has “seated us with” Christ.

III. Realize why God has done this for you in Christ!

Main Idea: Seek God for Spirit-given wisdom to thrive in the spiritual blessings that are ours in Christ.

1. We need wisdom to live truth well.
a. What is this wisdom?
b. The way of the Spirit and revelation
c. Prayer

2. This wisdom will transform our lives.
a. Hope: a clear view of the glorious goal.
b. Wealth: everything we need to live to His purpose
c. Power: God working to finish what he started

Main Idea: Heartfelt praise to God is the only appropriate response to the blessings he has given us in Christ!

I. We are chosen by the Father!

II. We are redeemed by the Son!
a. The work of Christ redeems us personally.
b. The work of Christ reveals a mystery.

III. We are sealed by the Spirit
