Guys - this was a bit of a rambling chat that may or may not have tons of interest for you. But we showed up, and that is the main thing. Plus you will hear about procrastination, percentages (the law of small numbers), boomers, distraction, and other fabulous items!
These aspects of human history represent two different parts of us, and of life: the rational and the non-rational. For us to be truly happy, individually and collectively, both parts need to be honored. The story of the last 2,000 years or so is of only one getting acknowledged, and things being out of balance, with some nasty consequences.
Daniel Kahnemann is the inspiration for today's rant / ravings / risky reflections. Advertising, Marketing, and Behavioral Science - believe it or not - actually relate very closely to the meaning of life itself. FR. (Um I think that's young-people-speak for 'for real'. Is it? Or did I just make a huge digital faux-pas?)
It's only when you want something, somewhere, or someone that is not with you where you are now, that you start to get troubled. What do you think? It's my developing theory / awarenesss. I think it may be (100%?) true.

'Making the world a better place' requires a revolution. It's not going to come from science or technology or economics or politics or crafts. We need to move beyond where we are today at a fundamental, foundational level: re-evaluating the role of thinking in our lives.
