Part 3 puts Dr. Kohlhaas in the driver’s seat as we discuss what he would do if he were appointed the Energy Czar in the United States. From there, we discuss the relationship the US has with other foreign oil players and how decisions made by one country can drastically affect the oil markets.\nWe then finish up with a discussion on what the future for the oil industry might look like, and how companies like RARE PETRO can make an impact within the industry.

Part 2 of this podcast begins with talking about the policy effects that the 1973 Oil Embargo had, not just then but also to this day. We then move into talking about the creation of the oil contract on the NYMEX in 1983 and how that effected oil trading and brought stability to the market place. We finish up discussing some of the more recent prices shocks and how current policy today might possibly affect the future of the oil industry.

Part 1 begins with a brief discussion of Dr. Kohlhaas's background as a professor at Colorado School of Mines and a small chat about his industry experience. From there, the conversation moved to discussing the issues that have plagued the oil industry for years. Dr. Kohlhaas goes back to the 1960’s and 1970’s and talks about the failings of government to properly handle and manage our energy resources. He mentions specific policies that were created with the hopes of leveling out the disparity in the oil price, which did not work and have caused great turmoil in regard to the volatility of the oil markets today.
