Inside- Outside: A podcast for Rare Disease Day.

Sondra Butterworth from RareQoL talks to Shanali Perera about her journey from being a Doctor to a rare disease patient

Inside-Outside: Making the invisible-visible presented by Dr Shanali Perera retired Rheumatology Doctor and Rare Disease Patient; and Sondra Butterworth Founder and Director of Research and Social Impact from RareQoL -  a social enterprise based in north Wales.

This is a promotional introduction to a series of podcasts which are being produced to raise awareness about the psycho-social needs of the Rare Disease Community.

During these Podcasts we will share the findings from Sondra's PhD study about Quality of Life and Social Support. We will reflect on how the outcomes from the study relate to Shanali's experiences as a former medical doctor and now a rare disease patient.

Each Podcast will include one of Shanali's drawings as a visual representation of the conversation theme.

We are developing resources to raise awareness about the psycho-social needs of the Rare Disease Community which will contribute to our understanding of Social Prescribing and contribute to discussions around The UK Rare Diseases Framework has been published by the Department of Health and Social Care.
