This video documents the journey of “Ratapan Lautan”, (Lament of the Ocean) a collective artwork created together with the fishing community in Kudat, Sabah.
Through woodcut printmaking, the work reflects the voices of the sea — stories of how local people protect their marine life, care for the ocean, and build their own conservation programs.
At the same time, it is part of a larger campaign to raise awareness about the destructive impact of bottom trawling.
Our hope is that this video becomes both a memory and a call to action:
To honour the community who lives with the sea
To inspire collective awareness
To stop harmful fishing practices
