Ch. 53 continues to speak of the relationship between Hashem and the Jewish people, but through a different angle. Here, the prophet must bear the missteps of Bnei Yisrael. "חֳלָיֵ֙נוּ֙ ה֣וּא נָשָׂ֔א וּמַכְאֹבֵ֖ינוּ סְבָלָ֑ם", our sickness he was bearing, our suffering he endured.

Ch. 54: We are reminded of the intimate relationship between God and the Jewish people. It's a relationship that was promised to be tested, yet is filled with potential for its future. "וְאֵ֧שֶׁת נְעוּרִ֛ים כִּ֥י תִמָּאֵ֖ס"...Can one cast off the wife of his youth? (54:6) Alan Levenson returns with today's audio dedicating his piece to those in Israel who have died in the floods this week in light of ch.54's reference of מי נח - the waters of Noach.

You may recognize the words for "Lecha Dodi" and your mind may wander to Kabbalat Shabbat. That would be appropriate, as this is one of the most uplifting chapters in Isaiah.
