Almo ProAV has offered a host of services to add-value to the 40+ manufacturer partners — things like content creation for digital signage networks, installation service, control programming services and internet bandwidth. All offer integrators recurring revenue opportunities for any AV gear they buy and integrate. Well, Almo ProAV has rebranded them AND is offered a few NEW services under their new NoBox initiative. What are the new one’s? Aurora Multimedia founder, Paul Harris, is using InfoComm to announce and release a new JavaScript-based control platform for the ProAV market. Dubbed ReAX  his intention is to make it freely available, via a non-profit alliance at www.reax.org, to any and all AV manufacturers that need to have their gear controlled. His reason? He thinks the market is ripe for an open-source, simpler control protocol. This hasn’t been announced or spoken about anywhere else - prior to today’s podcast - so, if you want to know all the details on how it works, who’s adopting it and why he did it, watch and listen to this interview with Paul. Oh, in case you we wondering, yes, he is heading to InfoComm with a bunch of new AV-over-IP products including a 10G wall plate based on SDVoE and a new set of 1G products, too. Gary was joined by Semtech Corproation‘s Gareth Heywood, Video Products Market Manager — the company that designed and makes the reference chips for all the SDVoE Alliance members. As you likely know, the SDVoE AV-over-IP standard is a 10G standard with the least compression of 4K over IP. But, I posed the question that everyone has wanted to ask them — could Semtech make a 1G or 5G AV-over-IP options, too? Well, listen to his response as we could see different flavors of AV-over-IP form SDVoE, eventually. Semtech will be at InfoComm in booth N720.

Gary had Christie’s Senior Product Manager, Karl Johnson, actually demo their Terra AV-over-IP system on today’s video version of his podcast. Christie’s Terra solution is unique in that it includes a controller — and a really neat software interface. You can see how easy it is to design AV systems, switch them and stage and moderate routing using the Terra software during a LIVE demo by watching this. Christie will be in booth N706 at InfoComm with Terra as well as a host of new Laser projectors, LEDs and Image Mapping systems.

IDK Corporation will head to InfoComm (Booth C4051) with both their SDVoE-capable 10G AV-over-IP gear as well as their legacy HDMI and RGB routing and swinging systems. Because they do both, they will be able to provide you with a unique perspective on signal routing today vs. what we’re likely to see in the future via the network. Gary was joined by IDK’s Executive Director, Ryohei Iwasaki, and their CTO, Chris Miller, to talk about how they’ll demo this and what the see looking forward. Go by and visit them!

Peerless-AV’s VP of North American and APAC, Brian McClimans, just delivered the best videocast we’ve ever recorded, seriously. So, he set up a working Xtreme 2500nit outdoor LCD outside in the mid-day sun and then proceeded to shoot it with a paint ball gun to show it’s durability. But, he didn’t stop there. He then took a high-pressure water hose and doused the front and back of the monitor to clear it of the 50+ paint balls and after he was done, the Xtreme monitor was still working! Yes, this was all done, LIVE, on today’s video edition of Gary’s podcast.
