Since our founding 244 years ago we have been a special nation. We were the first to truly embrace self-governance America has brought more freedom, self-determination and opportunity to mankind than any other nation. We are free only because of our history. It’s not a perfect nation, there are none of those. We are not a perfect people, there are none of those either. But I won’t sit by quietly while the left in America tries to rewrite our history. Since 2005 (now 15 years) I have lived with at least one of my kids in uniform. For most of that time it has been two. I’ve been an army dad through multiple Iraq deployments and 2 afghanistan deployments. One of my sons is a bronze star winner. This is not an idle hobby for me. I will not accept, nor promote, nor really even discuss the idea that my father, my father-in-law, my wife’s uncles, my nephews, nieces and cousin’s who serve are serving anything other than a virtuous country. My son was not promoting racism when he was treating afghan victims. My daughter was not promoting colonization when doing well child checks in the community in Baghdad. I won’t accept the idea that any of the Gold Star parents like the Khans or anyone else, lost their son or daughter in pursuit of racism. These families paid the ultimate price. We owe it to them to not waste the sacrifice through our own inaction. This is a time for us to remember that it’s not always easy to do what’s right, but it’s always right.
