This episode of the Raw Islam Podcast opens with Imam Azhar and B.C. Dodge talking about how we are in the first 10 days of Ramadan, which are known as the days of Mercy. Imam Azhar asks the question of how can these be the nights of mercy, with all violence that is going on around is.
Where is the mercy?
He says that many of our listeners may be saying to themselves that -
If it’s a month of mercy, why am I feeling these pains of hunger and thirst?
If I am fasting shouldn't I be blessed, and not have those pains?
The topic goes on to talk about the recent attacks in Egypt, Afghanistan, and Iraq. The Imam reminds us that not only are these acts of violence that are being done by ISIS, and whoever else, should be 100% proof that this is contradictory to Islam; because Islam teaches that if someone commits suicide, in the afterlife they continue that act over and over again for all eternity, the true definition of hell. Not only are these acts not Islamic, they are not civil, it isn't right.
The lunatic club, which we should call them from now on, put fear in us on 9/11, and that fear lead to doubt, which lead to miscommunication, which built on the fear which started all this in the first place. This left a hole between the people that we see as "others,” which has lead us to events like the one that took place in Oregon. Will we soon be at a point of no return?
How will we come back from where we are? How can we recover from the damage that has been done this far? By chasing them we only get closer to the goal that they have set, we need to run the other way and hope the masses follow us towards a better understanding of what life is and how we can – regardless of our faith – live side by side in a peaceful world.
