  • The InFOCUS Podcast: Albert Rodriguez
It's a busy week for Hispanic media, with NewFronts and Upfronts being presented online and in New York. For SBS President/COO, he's in Manhattan, and took time to share with RBR+TVBR his insight on a particularly strong Q1 2022 for the company's radio stations. He also discusses the NewFront strategy for SBS, which owns MegaTV, and the launch of two new properties in Florida at a time when launching one FM could be questioned due to the financial uncertainty across the U.S.

Listen to the conversation now in this InFOCUS Podcast, presented by dot.FM.

  • The InFOCUS Podcast: Ralph Bachofen, Triveni Digital
They're providing "the guts" to ATSC 3.0 for broadcast television stations across the U.S. But, what does that mean for those in the C-Suite? For one, new revenue opportunities are on the horizon. Second, monitoring of ATSC 3.0 signals is more important now that lighthouses, ahead of SFNs, are lighting up in market after market.

RBR+TVBR Editor-in-Chief Adam R Jacobson interviewed Ralph Bachofen, VP of Sales and Marketing at Triveni Digital, while attending the 2022 NAB Show in Las Vegas. His conversation can be heard in this freshly produced InFOCUS Podcast, presented by dot.FM.

  • The InFOCUS Podcast: Fred Jacobs and Techsurvey 2022
"We've got a lot of people who listen to a lot of radio, but what I always gravitate to are those who say, 'I listen under an hour a day," says Fred Jacobs of Jacobs Media.

That group comprises about 9% of the respondent sample for Techsurvey 2022, the results of which were presented today in a Zoom webinar. Participation from 474 radio stations was seen this year, producing nearly 31,000 surveys from "core" radio listeners.

Jacobs shared a lot of information, and RBR+TVBR's InFOCUS Podcast, presented by dot.FM, offers key takeaways and highlights in this edited audio report.

  • The InFOCUS Podcast: Saga's Q1 2022 Earnings Call
It's earnings season once again, and conference calls from Urban One, Saga Communications, Entravision and iHeartMedia were on the calendar for Thursday, May 5.

For Saga, "spicing up" the earnings review it holds for investors such as Towerview LLC and Wall Street analysts was only part of what CEO Ed Christian and CFO Sam Bush had to share.

What did Christian and Bush have to add beyond the straight numbers, which the company distributed without comment earlier in the day?

A lot, it turns out — including news of a building purchase in Norfolk that will help cut leasing costs that the company has incurred for the past 25 years. Christian says a move-in will come following a remodeling effort, and this will transpire within six months to one year. The building purchase reduces Saga's leases to one, in Bluffton, S.C., within the Savannah, Ga., and Hilton Head, S.C., markets.

Take a listen to this InFOCUS Podcast, presented by dot.FM, and you'll get to hear it from the Saga leader himself.

  • The InFOCUS Podcast: Byron Allen
Byron Allen, the one-time comedian turned media mogul, is one of five recipients of a Leadership Award from the Broadcasters Foundation of America.

Allen's acceptance of the honor will be remembered for a generation — he hammed it up on stage before delivering a poignant message to the industry VIPs in attendance.

RBR+TVBR was there, and we have the full audio of Allen's speech in the latest InFOCUS Podcast, presented by dot.fm.

  • The InFOCUS Podcast: 2022 NAB Show Edition
The Connected Car and radio's place on the dashboard of vehicles today and tomorrow has turned out to be a hot topic at the 2022 NAB Show.

Before RBR+TVBR Editor-in-Chief Adam R Jacobson even got to the Las Vegas Convention Center to cover the show over four days, Radio was front and center — not from any out-of-home advertising, but rather from the in-dash radio in the blue Toyota Corolla driven by "Joseph" for Lyft and Uber.

Adam chatted with Joseph about his radio consumption on the 8-minute drive to the convention center, and we've shared it with to demonstrate, once again, that Radio has a unique connection to the consumer. In this case, Joseph likes the "randomness" of local FM radio.

  • The InFOCUS Podcast: Caroline Beasley
"Collaboration is so important in today's world,' says Beasley Media Group CEO Caroline Beasley. That's why "FaceTime," not on an iPhone but IRL, is something she and so many other NAB Show attendees are looking forward to the conference and expo, scheduled for April 23-27 in Las Vegas.

What does Caroline hope to gain from attending this year? She shares in this exclusive InFOCUS Podcast, presented by dot.FM, ways to expand Beasley's digital revenue streams while seeking new ways to increase diversification of the revenue stream. There are also potential investments in new opportunities on the horizon for Beasley Media Group, which is participating in putting together an April 24 "Cocktails and Conversation" invite-only event you still have a chance to attend.

Take 10 minutes to tune in to this chat with RBR+TVBR Editor-in-Chief Adam R Jacobson.

He first made a name for himself as a news anchor for Sunbeam Television's highly successful news-focused WSVN-7 in Miami. Later, he'd find international fame as a commentator and telejournalist on CNN.

Today, Rick Sanchez is paving a new path, one that involves entrepreneur Sol Trujillo and the growing area of on-demand audio — podcasting.

In this InFOCUS Podcast, presented by dot.fm, Sanchez shares his philosophy behind what makes Agua Media unique and why marketers and consumers like have been craving such content but haven't yet gotten it — until now.

  • The InFOCUS Podcast: Tom Cheli, Frequence
Radio broadcasting companies have something very valuable, and even a Silicon Valley media workflow software maker sees it: the relationships with local advertisers can't be beat.

In this InFOCUS Podcast, presented by dot.FM, Frequence CEO Tom Cheli shares why he strongly believes Radio is in an enviable spot for advertising.

What does this mean about the power of programmatic for radio? Should a radio ad sales executive be apt at both linear on-air schedules and all-things streaming?

Find out in this fresh audio report, hosted by Radio + Television Business Report Editor-in-Chief Adam R Jacobson.
