When the doctor discovers a gap in his memory, he uncovers what he thinks is a (possibly alien) conspiracy. Turns out, Janeway made the decision 18 months prior to erase his memories to undo a feedback loop caused by a life or death decision the doctor was forced to make. Seven doesn't think Janeway is treating the doctor fairly and makes her reconsider her decision. But what happened? And who is this mysterious ensign that we've never heard of before?
