When Jesus teaches us the significance and implications of His feeding of the 5,000 He says some hard things. He says that we must eat His flesh and drink His blood if we want the eternal life He alone offers. What does that mean?? Each of us want to experience love, belonging, intimacy, happiness, pleasure, and fun. But if we date or marry as a means to have those things, then we will miss out on a deeper and a greater purpose for our lives and our relationship. And we’ll miss out on a deeper and greater experiencing of those things we all long for. In our passage, Jesus heals a lame man and proves to be the True Healer. But instead of praise, Jesus experiences opposition and proves to not only be the True Healer, but also the Rejected Healer. This story challenges us as believers to see others the way Jesus sees them and to not take for granted what God has done for us.

For our Christmas series, we are looking at the birth narrative of Jesus Christ as seen in the Gospel of Luke. This first sermon of the series will look at the events leading up to the birth of Christ and see that the miraculous conception of Jesus proves God’s mighty faithfulness to fulfill all His promises and bless those who believe His promises.
