  • 110. Where the Far Left Meets the Far Right

Is it a political spectrum or is it a political circle? After Marisol posted on social media about the wellness and yoga community being a part of the insurrection at the Capital on January 6th she received a lot of feedback and comments surrounding the extremism that can be found in the wellness community. Adam describes this idea of a political circle, where the further you dig, you will eventually find common ground with someone digging from the other side. In the same way we see political moderates find commonality on an array of issues, political extremists from both ends, find their commonality as well. Marisol and Adam dig deep into the commonality surrounding vaccine decisions and conspiracies with the far right and far left and how their privileged identities have played a role in their information literacy and want for community health.

  • 109. Balancing positive and negative perspectives in a relationship

Marisol and Adam share that they are currently on lockdown after Neo, their son, tested positive for covid-19. Marisol explains how her birthday plans were effected by the families current health situation and how she is trying to balance finding the positive in the situation (family time, back in the bubble, reconnection) with her negative feelings (disappointment, fear, missing out on extended family and community time). The couple then has a contentious discussion around the balance of reactions and the ability to have your own authentic reaction without overshadowing the space your partner needs to experience their own feelings around a situation.

Marisol and Adam catch up with their doula, Chama Woydak and deep dive into the circular and interconnected understanding of family trauma, creating chosen families and deep friendships, the hurt and grief that comes with losing those friends, and the idea of collective community care. Covid really brought to light the different ways we define community care or health and that wreaked havoc on our families, friendships, communities and country. Listen in as Marisol, Adam, and Chama break it down and bring it all together in a metaphor about corn.

Chama Woydak has been attending births as a birth doula in Asheville since 1999 and teaching childbirth education classes since 2002. She is a full spectrum birth, death and postpartum and abortion doula, a Lamaze childbirth educator, a DONA International Birth Doula trainer, a Holding Space for Pregnancy Loss Instructor and the Strategic Doula Advisor for Sistas Caring 4 Sistas, a community-based doula program located at MAHEC. • 101. Pandemic Partnership: Robin & Brian

In this 10 part series we will have conversations with couples and individuals who continue to navigate the Pandemic either in partnership or without partnership and to dive deeper into how relationships are handling this ongoing pandemic as we enter the second full year.

All relationships end. In this metaphysical conversation Marisol and Adam speak with Robin and Brian about spending time apart, critical polyamory, silence, and about how everything in life is just a frame.

Robin and Brian have been together since 2008 and share a commitment to supporting each other’s spiritual path and overall life enjoyment until death or some other life situation brings their relationship to a close.  Although they would say that their communication isn't so great, they’ve survived many strange rock climbing, backpacking and daily life incidents by relying on laughter and their deep care and kindness for each other.
