The Letter of Jude.

The writer, presumably Jude the brother of Jesus, writes to believers to warn them of those around them who have crept into the church who pervert the grace of God and deny Christ as their master by the way they live.

The Holy Spirit uses Jude to encourage believers to stay strong in their faith and continue abiding in Jesus and in His teachings. God will be faithful to keep them as His own to the end.

The third letter of John.

The author (presumably the apostle John by tradition and writing style) is writing to Gaius, a beloved friend and believer, to encourage him to continue his work of love and hospitality while informing him of someone against his ministry, Diotrephes.

The second letter of John.

The author (presumably the apostle John by tradition and writing style) is writing to a woman and her children to encourage them to continue to love one another and to hold to the truth of Jesus coming to earth in bodily form amidst many deceivers who denied this truth.

The first letter of John: Chapter 5.

The author (presumably the apostle John by tradition and writing style) is writing to believers about the life of Jesus and how it ought to impact their lives as well as ours today.

Chapter 5 explores the confidence that Christians can have in knowing God through Jesus and having eternal life.

Note - some translations have a different verse 7 that mentions all parts of the trinity. It is more common in the earlier manuscripts to not have this part, meaning it possibly was added later on. This is why the ESV has a shorter verse 7.

The first letter of John: Chapter 4.

The author (presumably the apostle John by tradition and writing style) is writing to believers about the life of Jesus and how it ought to impact their lives as well as ours today.

Chapter 4 explores the Spirit of God - and discerning what spirits are not of God - as well as the love of God toward us and how that should impact our lives.

The first letter of John: Chapter 3.

The author (presumably the apostle John by tradition and writing style) is writing to believers about the life of Jesus and how it ought to impact their lives as well as ours today.

Chapter 3 explores:

• The Christian's status as a beloved child of God

• How sin and righteousness play into the lives of believers

• The love of God and how it should impact our lives

The first letter of John: Chapter 2.

The author (presumably the apostle John by tradition and writing style) is writing to believers about the life of Jesus and how it ought to impact their lives as well as ours today.

Chapter 2 explores a variety of themes, such as:

• Christ as our advocate when we sin

• A reminder to keep God's commandments

• Continuation on the motifs of light and darkness as imagery of sin and righteousness

• Warning against loving the world

• Warning about antichrists in the world
