We’ve probably all seen the words of Jeremiah 29:11 on graduation cards, encouragement cards, and other merchandise. 

Jeremiah 29:11 says, “‘For I know the plans that I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans for prosperity and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.

The way we use this verse seems to be implying God has plans to give an individual a prosperous career, good health, or even money in the bank. But is that what this verse is telling us?

Romans 10:13 For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

These verses are commonly used to teach that all one must do to be saved is believe and confess Jesus’ name, often by reciting a “sinner’s prayer.” On the surface this interpretation may seem to be true, But is it?
