Breaking The Laws Of Nature

Romans 7:18-25

18 For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh. For I have the desire to do what is right, but not the ability to carry it out. 19 For I do not do the good I want, but the evil I do not want is what I keep on doing. 20 Now if I do what I do not want, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells within me. 21 So I find it to be a law that when I want to do right, evil lies close at hand. 22 For I delight in the law of God, in m y inner being, 23 but I see in my members another law waging war against the law of my mind and making me captive to the law of sin that dwells in my members. 24 Wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? 25 Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, I myself serve the law of God with my mind, but with my flesh I serve the law of sin.

2 Laws at work: Law of God (law of the spirit) and the law of sin & death

I serve the law of God with my inner being (mind)

I serve the law of sin with my members (body, flesh)

Desire vs. Ability: The possibilities of desire versus the impossibilities of our abilities

Romans 8:1-2  

8 There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death.

condemnation in this sense meaning “down or according to”

• We are free from a life of living according to the law of sin & death

With God It Is Possible | Matthew 19:23-26

23 And Jesus said to his disciples, “Truly, I say to you, only with difficulty will a rich person enter the kingdom of heaven. 24 Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God.” 25 When the disciples heard this, they were greatly astonished, saying, “Who then can be saved?” 26 But Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

Faith In God Makes It Possible | Matthew 17:20

20 He said to them, “Because of your little faith. For truly, I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you.”

Faith in God defies the law of sin and death, Heaven obeys none of the laws of earth.

The miracles of God defied the laws of nature as a symbol of how His spirit defies the laws of our physical nature.

The Possibilities of Heaven Meet The Impossibilities of Earth | Matthew 6:10

10 Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

We Are Rescued From The Power Of Our Nature | Daniel 6:27 

27 He delivers and rescues; he works signs and wonders in heaven and on earth,

he who has saved Daniel from the power of the lions.”

Daniel 3:27

27 And the satraps, the prefects, the governors, and the king's counselors gathered together and saw that the fire had not had any power over the bodies of those men. The hair of their heads was not singed, their cloaks were not harmed, and no smell of fire had come upon them.

We do not succumb to the forces of nature because the God in us is greater!

1 John 3:20

For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things.

1 John 4:4

Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

I’m With The Foolishness

1 Corinthians 2:27

27 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;

What is Foolishness?

the quality or state of being ridiculous or wildly unreasonable

lack of good sense

lack of good judgment; stupidity

Acts 9:22

But Saul increased the more in strength, and confounded the Jews which dwelt at Damascus, proving that this is very Christ.

Isaiah 29:10-14

And the Lord said: “Because this people draw near with their mouth and honor me with their lips, while their hearts are far from me, and their fear of me is a commandment taught by men, 14 therefore, behold, I will again do wonderful things with this people, with wonder upon wonder; and the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the discernment of their discerning men shall be hidden.”

Acts 19:27-31

27 “Not only is our little business in danger of falling apart, but the temple of our famous goddess Artemis will certainly end up a pile of rubble as her glorious reputation fades to nothing. And this is no mere local matter—the whole world worships our Artemis!” 28-31 That set them off in a frenzy. They ran into the street yelling, “Great Artemis of the Ephesians! Many of them said, "He is demon-possessed and insane. Why would you listen to Him?”

19 For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.

20 Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?

1 Corinthians 3:19

For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness.

21 For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.

25 Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.

26 For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called:

wisdom - the quality of having experience, knowledge, and good judgment

strength - the influence or power possessed by a person

Psalm 71:23-24

23 My lips shall greatly rejoice when I sing unto thee; and my soul, which thou hast redeemed.

24 My tongue also shall talk of thy righteousness all the day long: for they are confounded, for they are brought unto shame, that seek my hurt.

Episode 49. Today we talk about hypocrisy. For most of us Christians, we’ve either been accused of it or even felt that way towards ourselves at some point in our Christian walk. The term hypocrite is often used as a slur but is it more than that, it's something we should evaluate every single day. Today we dig into what the word says about hypocrisy. Jesus often pointed out hypocrites not to attack but to help us today to know what not to be when we say we are Christians. Enjoy.

Episode 48 we talk about working out your salvation. We put so much effort into trying to get things to work out, but put no effort towards the only thing we should really be trying to work out...our salvation. That means we are working out our faith so that God can begin to work in us. Hopefully this helps people take a load off...rest...and foucs on what matters.
