EP3: Success Starts With Accountability. Managing Broker Katie Kossev joins host Heather Shimala to break down Own Your Future, the 6 AM accountability group she built inside Side, Reserve 76 Realty's parent brand, after twenty five years across four brokerages.
Katie walks through how the group works. Roughly 20 agents meet on Zoom every Monday at 6 AM, cameras required. Members sign up one month at a time through a Google form, committing to 8,000 steps Monday through Friday, a shared monthly book, and a stated personal and business goal, tracked through a free app called Step Up and a group text that keeps people honest between calls. One member has hit her step goal every single day, including weekends, for almost a year. Katie also explains why a spouse is the wrong accountability partner, and why signing up month by month instead of indefinitely keeps a group from quietly falling apart.
From there the conversation moves into what separates a successful agent from an average one. Katie's answer is not hustle. It is confidence built from real market knowledge, agents who time block to study their own market instead of guessing, and who stop pouring hours into buyer and seller packets nobody asked for. They also get into why AI generated social content is starting to lose trust with buyers and sellers, and why finding your ideal client matters more than chasing everyone in your market.
They also talk mindset: choosing abundance over scarcity when the market feels unpredictable, why Katie reads rising inactive agent license numbers as opportunity, and why this may be one of the better times in years to represent a buyer, including Katie testing her own pricing advice on a house she owns in Galveston.
