“Dear Partner…”
Dear partner,
I know you’re trying.
Even if you don’t always know what to say.
Even if you feel completely helpless watching someone you love go through this.
I know you’re scared, too.
Even if you don’t show it. Even if you feel like you can’t show it because you’re trying to be the strong one.
But here’s the thing—this isn’t just happening to one of us. It’s happening to both of us.
And if we don’t talk about it, it will eat away at us quietly.
What I Wish You Knew…
I wish you knew that when I cry after a negative test, it’s not because I’m giving up—it’s because I need a minute to mourn.
I wish you knew that I don’t always need a solution. I just need you to say, “This sucks, and I’m here.”
I wish you knew that I still want to feel close. That sex has started to feel like a job, and I hate that, but it doesn’t mean I’ve stopped needing you.
I wish you knew that I’m grieving things I haven’t even lost yet. Time. Hope. Control.
And I wish you knew that you’re allowed to grieve too.
