This week on Real Good Denver, we meet some Denver people who have more hours in the day than the rest of us.

First up is Dr. Joseph Ramos.

He's a doctor. A lawyer. A helicopter pilot. A black belt in Taekwondo. A competitive trap shooter who tried out for the Olympic team. An entrepreneur. And he's considering getting his real estate license because his résumé was a little too thin.

Ryan talks with Dr. Ramos about growing up in a tiny Nevada town, leaving the Air Force Academy when his dream of flying fighter jets changed, and how that early experience with failure shaped the way he approaches everything else.

They get into discipline versus motivation, why Ramos writes down his goals and says them out loud, the idea of the "Man in the Glass," and how pursuing mastery in one area can make it easier to pursue it somewhere else.

Then we get into the future.

As both a practicing physician and attorney, Ramos has an unusual perspective on AI coming for two professions that historically required an enormous amount of specialized knowledge. He talks about how quickly AI has improved, what it could mean for doctors and patients, and why better-informed patients could ultimately force healthcare providers to become better communicators.

The conversation also gets into wellness, HRT, peptides, GLP-1s and Ramos' belief that medicine should spend more time treating wellness instead of waiting for illness.

Naturally, we finish with a game called Doctor or Lawyer?

Who do you call if you eat a mushroom from a farmers market and temporarily understand Sanskrit?

Maria and Eva from Flamenco Denver join us ahead of their annual performance at the Newman Center for the Performing Arts.

Ryan went last year knowing almost nothing about flamenco and walked away calling it one of his favorite events of the entire year.

This year the production gets even bigger.

The Flamenco Denver Dance Company has expanded, internationally acclaimed dancers are coming in from out of town, and four musicians will join the company for a night of live guitar, vocals, percussion and dance.

Maria and Eva explain what makes flamenco different, the Spanish and cultural influences behind the art form, and how complete beginners can start learning it right here in Denver.

We also discover that the dancers' feet are literally part of the orchestra.

Flamenco Denver built a special floating floor specifically for the production. It gets transported to the Newman Center in pieces, assembled onstage and individually miked so the dancers' footwork becomes part of the percussion.

Which sounds like an enormous pain to set up.

It also sounds incredible.

The Flamenco Denver performance is October 1 at 7:30 p.m. at the Newman Center for the Performing Arts at the University of Denver.

Ryan sits down with Denise Mickelsen to preview one of Colorado's biggest culinary weekends, running August 26–29. They break down everything from wine education and competitive cocktail making to food trucks, green chile and Saturday's massive Grand Tasting.

The week kicks off Wednesday with the Riedel Wine Seminar, where attendees learn how the shape of a glass can completely change the way a wine tastes and smells. Even better: you leave with your own set of Riedel glassware.

Thursday brings the Shake & Break Showdown, featuring 10 food trucks and 11 bartenders battling for the People's Choice awards. Expect everything from Ethiopian and Indian food to Korean cuisine, dumplings, pizza, New Zealand-style ice cream and apparently something called a "burger bomb."

Then Saturday is the big one: the Grand Tasting on the Tivoli Quad. More than 50 restaurants converge on Denver alongside hundreds of wines and spirits, DJs, games, VIP experiences and even a roaming tarot card reader. Restaurants are coming from across Colorado, making it what Denise calls "Colorado on a plate."

Ryan and Denise also get into one of Colorado's most important culinary debates: Who actually has the best green chile? Savina's enters the conversation with a perfect score, Taco de Mexico gets some love, and the Colorado vs. New Mexico green chile rivalry is temporarily downgraded from open warfare to a "friendly" disagreement.

Best of all, the festival supports the Colorado Restaurant Foundation, which provides culinary education, apprenticeships, scholarships and emergency assistance to restaurant workers throughout Colorado.

Come hungry. Take a rideshare. Always get the ice cream.

In this episode:

• Denver Food & Wine Festival 2026
• The Riedel Wine Seminar
• Shake & Break food truck + cocktail showdown
• Saturday's massive Grand Tasting
• 50+ restaurants from across Colorado
• The Colorado ProStart culinary program
• Supporting Colorado restaurant workers
• Savina's and the hunt for Colorado's best green chile
• Why Denver's food scene deserves more respect
• Why you should always get the ice cream
