This week we find ourselves in the Garden of Gethsemane witnessing Peter acting outside the will of God. Jesus on the other hand surrendered to the Fathers will. Like Peter, we can find ourselves acting outside God's will without ever understanding what it is. In this sermon we will see the blessing of trusting and obeying the Fathers will.

God tests us—not to fail us, but to form us. Through success, failure, and everything in between, His tests reveal what we believe, who we trust, and where our eyes are fixed. Like Peter on the water, the test is never just about the storm—it's about learning to walk by faith, even when we sink.

This week we look at the ups and downs of Peter’s life; from his great confession that Jesus is the Son of the Living God, to his denials of Jesus. Our highs and lows in life don’t define us. How we ‘end’ our journey is more important than how we start. Peter started with the strength of a Jewish commercial fisherman and loads of human passion behind that. He ended in humble obedience, painfully but peacefully aware of his failures, yet fully committed to the Gospel and its King! Like Peter, we too can learn to navigate the highs and lows as we depend on the Lords’ grace and mercy.

He highlights that while not all suffering is the result of personal sin, it presents an opportunity for God’s glory to be displayed. The message challenges believers to respond to Jesus with humility, obedience, and faith—trusting in His methods and timing for healing—and to share their testimony regardless of skepticism or rejection. Ultimately, true faith is seen in action, and our role is to stay faithful and point others to Christ, the light of the world.

The story of Jonah reveals a spiritual pattern many of us fall into: we often resist God's calling, suffer the consequences of disobedience, and then find grace through repentance—only to still struggle when God’s will challenges our sense of justice or control. Jonah's journey teaches us that God’s mercy is not limited by our opinions, ideals or prejudices, His desire is to offer mercy to the repentant heart.

When God says no, He means it. God has a plan we are to obey and follow. Hearing no from God can actually be good for us. No's have the opportunity to grow our faith, our humility, discipline us and align us with the will of God. God is a good and merciful God who goes to great lengths to get our attention, including even speaking through a donkey.

If we look at minimal facts on the resurrection through historical accounts of Jesus, the proof is overwhelmingly definitive.
