What does an open policy mean in context, regarding a romantic relationship?

I often say this, concerning romantic relationships, "Talk, talk and talk!"

Talk as exhaustively as possible, about everything!

Intimacy isn't just about sex, it is your ability to be open and not feel constrained in expressing yourself.

Relationships should make us better versions of ourselves; however, if you are becoming worse off than when you were single, then you should begin to consider calling your relationship quits.
