Watermark family and friends,
We know that many trusted Members of our body share a different perspective than was represented in the recent discussion on Real Truth. Real Quick. regarding vaccinations. We love and respect them, and count it a privilege to represent Christ with them.
In no way did we think this was a definitive deep dive into this topic, nor does it seek to make this issue an essential of the faith. We recognize there is freedom to thoughtfully land elsewhere and we would never recommend breaking fellowship with someone if they have an alternative position.
We answered the question due to a large number of submissions on the topic, and at the request of Watermark Urgent Care and trusted medical doctors in our community. The goal was to share the perspective of the majority of leaders in the medical community, even while acknowledging those who have alternate perspectives. We encourage all within our body to make wise decisions for each specific child in their family and in consultation with their doctors and broader community (2 Timothy 2:22).
Regardless, we believe this is an opportunity for us all to lead well and to give “preference to one another in honor” (Romans 12:10) as we continue the conversation. We believe you can be a sincere follower of Christ and share alternative perspectives. However, we do not believe it reflects well on Christ to share those perspectives in ways that are divisive or factious. Before commenting, we would encourage people to watch the full episode to understand the heart, intention, and tone of the discussion. We look forward to honoring our Lord, loving one another, and modeling civility and prudence as the conversation continues.
If you are a Member of Watermark and desire to share feedback with us, we would encourage you to process that feedback in your community group and start communication through your community shepherd.
We are grateful to serve Christ alongside each of you and look forward to continuing the conversation as we all seek for mutual understanding.
Best,
Todd & the Real Truth. Real Quick. team
