Life is a forward moving machine! - Am I right?

When was the last time you made an effort to stop, pause, and breathe before making a decision about your personal or professional needs?

We all feel that tension to make quick decisions and keep moving forward - myself included! But recently I was talking with a good friend of mine, Nancy, and she told me about her discipline of pausing and slowing down when she needs to make decisions or just simple make time for herself to break away from the constant hustle.

As many of you know, I love to run and I love to challenge myself in new arenas. 

There are so many athletes that inspire me - many who are dear friends. And today, I want to introduce you a very inspirational woman and dear friend of mine, Courtney Monroe Culligan.

Courtney is a USAT Level 1 Certified Coach and a triathlon race team member with Team Infinit Competition and  The Cupcake Cartel. She started TriAptitude Coaching, five years ago, to provide triathlon coaching as well as strength and conditioning, sport specific endurance training and personal training both locally in the Denver area as well as nationally.  

In this episode, Courtney shares her journey of coaching and competing in races. She's incredible and her philosophy towards life I hope will impact you the way it has me. 

Coaching Philosophy

My coaching philosophy is based on my personal experience as an athlete, mother, wife and teacher.  My highest priority is to make sure every one of my athletes realize their fullest potential and to support them in this journey. I focus on a balance of life.  And, I believe that direct, efficient communication and mutual respect is the key to a strong athlete/coach relationship. My ongoing experience with teaching, coaching and racing gives me an empathetic understanding of my athlete’s individual needs and concerns as they prepare for their race season. I encourage my athletes to find the right balance for themselves which encourages continued consistency in training and commitment to their personal goals, both in sport and in life as a whole.

Follow Rudy's life journey from math & physics to ski instruction to ultimately having  a long career as a pilot with United Airlines.

Barb is one of most courageous people I know!

She constantly asks:  |when was the last time you did something for the 1st time."

An adventurous and highly successful woman, Barb is constantly pursuing life to the fullest. 

In this podcast  Barb shares a traumatic cycling accident  that left  her with a trip to the ER and hospital stay and at a rehab center for a little less than 3 weeks.

Now almost 2 years later and many re-learned life skills she is asking all of us : 

"If you know someone healing from a TBI, please be patient with them and encourage them to be patient with themselves.  And to never stop moving. forward"

 TBI recovery is measured not in days or weeks, but in months and years.  But Barb's spirit has not been broken, she's still on fire and it's contagious!
