Bio: 

Simone Herbert

I graduated from the University of Illinois-Urbana/Champaign with my BA in 2011, and I graduated from the University of Illinois with my Master’s Degree in Social Work in 2014. I have received several accolades while at the UIUC, which included Dean’s List recognition and becoming a member of Sigma Alpha Lambda, a national leadership and honors organization. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Illinois and I currently work as a therapist for a local hospital organization. I have been employed with this organization for the past 8 years. I have experience in child welfare, intensive outpatient group therapy, & crisis management as I worked for a non-profit organization in Danville, IL for 5 years as well. I am also a member of a local volunteer organization as giving back to my community is one of my biggest passions. My hobbies include exercising, traveling, and spending time with my husband, our four daughters, and our dog, Kane.

Season 3 Episode 3- Let’s Talk About Self-Esteem - Featuring Carmella Crawford, Child and Family Therapist, shares insight about self-esteem and how we can support ourselves and young people.

Bio: Carmella Crawford is a single mother of two who currently resides in Bourbonnais, IL. Crawford is a recent graduate of Walden University in the MS in Clinical Mental Health Counseling program and works as a Child and Family Therapist at the Moran Center in Evanston, IL. Carmella loves all things involving expressive and creative arts including photography, writing, and painting. She also loves cooking, traveling and spending time with friends and family. She also enjoys having dialogue with people and learning from other people's perspectives. Crawford’s future goals include starting her own therapy practice centered around arts.

If you listen to the podcast, you may already know that I view the platform as an extension of my private voice studio. In a lesson I like to focus primarily on the voice but every now and then other topics come up (for example- other forms of technique, mental health, artist development) that can affect the way we make sound but there is either just not enough time to chat about these things or sometimes it's just not the appropriate setting....so voilà, podcast! 

This particular episode is the beginning of a series I'm calling difficult conversations. It will focus on emotions that affect our inner and outer voice. In this episode I chat with someone about their loss of a loved one and how it has affected them. My guest takes us through what she went though and in doing so shows us her perspective on what someone grieving needs. She also inspires us to continue showering those closest to our hearts with love.

Bio: Kimberly Moller has toured as a soloist with The Boston Symphony Orchestra Pops under the direction of Keith Lockhart, and with Kristin Chenoweth at The Music Box in San Diego under the direction of Mary Mitchell Campbell. Kimberly has appeared as an actor or teaching artist at La Jolla Playhouse, The Old Globe San Diego, The Moonlight Amphitheater, San Diego Musical Theater, Off-Broadway Theater Company and many regional northeast theater and opera houses in Boston, Connecticut, and New York. Most recently, she has been in the recording studio for new musical demos and starred as “Belting Debbie” in the Oniros film festival award-winning  musical short film Sharing the Love.  Kimberly earned her MFA in Musical Theater from San Diego State University, an M.M. in Vocal Performance and a Graduate Performance Diploma in Voice Pedagogy from Boston University.  Kimberly is on the Board of The National Association of Teachers of Singing in San Diego and a member of The Musical Theatre Educators Alliance. Her mentors include: Singing Athlete creator Andrew Byrne, Laurinda Nikkel (SDSU), Mary Saunders Barton (Penn State/Bel Canto can Belto method) and master Z-Health trainer Missy Bunch. Kimberly is Z-Health Essentials, R-Phase and I-Phase certified to assist with drills and mobility that impacts vocal production at the speed of the nervous system.
