The phrase "The truth hurts" means you may have to accept an uncomfortable, unflattering, or harsh reality that challenges your self-image, illusions, beliefs, or ego. Being told the truth, however, is something we all need. Jesus loves His last day church and sent it a truthful message. He gave it a reality check.
