In this episode of Reality Leak, I ditch the polished script and talk honestly about where my spiritual practice has been taking me lately: working through the Gateway Experience and Hemi-Sync exercises, experimenting with channeling and “information downloads,” exploring Pomba Gira and Umbanda slowly and respectfully and with the guidance of a Brazilian practitioner, and trying to reconnect with the strange sense of aliveness I remember from childhood.

I also get into something that's been bothering me about modern spirituality: the endless cycle of buying tarot decks, crystals, rituals and manifestation techniques while somehow feeling increasingly disconnected from the thing we were searching for in the first place.

Along the way, I talk about an unexpectedly emotional experience during a Gateway exercise, growing up with an intuitive and decidedly non-consumerist approach to witchcraft, my own years of becoming spiritually dormant, ego in metaphysical communities, and, apparently, the fact that an arachnophobe is now cautiously attempting to communicate with a spider entity.

Reality Leak is an exploration of consciousness, spirituality, high strangeness, paranormal experiences, occult ideas and those moments when ordinary reality seems to crack open just enough to show us something underneath.

I'm not here to pretend I have the answers.
