        • Episode #546 – De Mol België Thailand Episode 1 Recap

Do some really goofy sneaky shit, as Best Friend of the Podcast Papa Bear Gilles de Coster celebrates his tenth season of hosting, by inviting another ten candidates to join him for the best Thai-me of their lives in the Land of Smiles – Thailand! As always, one of them has a second motive – to spread misfortune while sabotaging and restrict the pot as much as possible, whilst avoiding the searching gaze of both their fellow players and the public, but probably not Logan Saunders – as is now traditional! Each week, three guys who would never dump truck it straight onto your drive, loose – Logan, Bindles & I – will be attempting to uncover the truth behind the lies and who will be trying to find out the hand action to offer us a quickie, beginning with the first episode and elimination of absolutely no-one!

          In this episode:

          • Logan surprises us all.
          • Fuzzy gets a bingo square straight away.
          • I’ve been trying to improve community relations.
          • Are we being pandered to by another show?
          • We touch upon Jeopardy! UK.
          • What do we think of Thailand as a location choice?
          • Do we feel old?
          • Could we have had another Canary Islands situation?
          • We improve the Muay Thai challenge.

          • Can we tell everyone apart?
          • Logan’s mildly-offensive descriptions return.
          • Jan has a very stereotypical introduction.
          • Did we spot a clue?
          • Papa Bear’s been watching Taskmaster.
          • Did the Nose group know what their challenge was before it aired?
          • Was Hilde’s introduction a repeat?
          • Is The Bible a Tolkein epic?
          • Bindles goes down a rabbit hole.
          • Has Napoleon Dynamite been referenced before?
          • Have the Papa Bear nicknames been put to bed?
          • Are any of Els’ tricks that impressive?
          • Should the courier have had to earn his journey to the rooftop?

          • Have we been to Bangkok?
          • Why did they need drivers in Thailand and not Vietnam?
          • Would we have let the briefcase in?
          • Gilles shows off.

          • How good was the first sabotage?
          • Why did no-one remove the fake sign?
          • Why was Rusiana in the vent?
          • Are we counting this as an episode 1 cliffhanger?
          • We’ve got a little addition to First Suspicions.
          • And we lock in our first set of suspects.
          • A new season also means a new predictions pool for me to win! For the first time ever though – there will be three of us participating! In our België one, Logan, Bindles & I will each draft three candidates following this week’s episode. As I won last year’s Flemish pool, I get first draft. As the only person to be right in the end, Logan gets second draft and as Bindles led us all astray, he gets last draft. Our fan-favourite Switches also return and can – as always – be used until final five becomes final four. Whoever is left over will join the team who loses someone next week – in the event of a double execution, that will be the team who loses someone first next week.

The teams will be revealed on next week’s episode!

You can also join us in the First Suspicions game by filling in this form. The form will be live until Episode 2 airs on Sunday! You can also take part in the Bother’s Bar Suspect List here.

Thank you for listening – we’ll see you next week for more Mole Hunting!

            • I narrowly avoid an injury.
            • Does Toronto have apologetic curbs?
            • Is Channel Nine pandering to us too?
            • Was Holger right about the maximum?
            • Logan is caught out not listening when he’s missing.
            • Should First Suspicions have a tie-breaker this season?
            • Do we want to do België news?
            • Did Fuzzy get the banner (at least as of the time of recording)?
            • A surprise Pieter Janker’s Samble is offered for België!
            • Are the candidates physically dragged back for the reunion?
            • Which alumni did we spot?
            • The set dressing is impeccable.
            • Why did this reunion feel so much better?
            • Production rewrite the final five.
            • How do we feel about Stijn as a Mole?
            • A Taskmaster favourite gets another mention.
            • We compare on-location Mole picks.
            • Is it tough to show social abilities?

            • Have they reached the low pot floor?

            • What could we have cut to include extra sabotages and clues?
            • Was Rik covering his face an intentional clue?
            • Can they get away with clues featuring the letter S?
            • Should they have looked at our Historians clues for inspiration?
            • We give our final thoughts on the season.
            • Could Mole ever go to India?
            • Does it work in their favour if a Mole is heavily suspected?
            • Logan gets a choice.
            • We definitely don’t have any thoughts about the results of the Pool or First Suspicions.
            • We regret looking at the Suspect List results live.
            • And Logan sets a new personal best.
            • Three things are certain in life – death, taxes and me winning our Predictions Pool. Despite the fact that he stole for the very first time, all Logan stole was the exclusive opportunity to finish in second for a third year straight – as my return steal of Stijn earned me a hat trick! Roos finishing as winner also meant that for the second time in three years I finished with both Mole and Winner. Better luck next time, Saunders!

You can see the results of the Bother’s Bar Suspect List here – thank you to Thomas for all his hard work building the Suspect List this season!

Thank you for listening – we’ll see you on March 27th for De Mol België: Thailand!

                  • The Dutch suspicions are crazy.
                  • We lock in our seventh set of suspicions.
                  • And Bindles earns himself an eye roll.
                  • After his – some would say completely unfair – move last week, Logan’s hopes entirely rest on Maaike! I’m now guaranteed a second finalist in addition to Stijn who’s already confirmed, with the potential of a Harmstone Sweep if both Roos & Sophie make it through next week.

Ask if they serve Butterbeer here, because we are back for Wie is de Mol 2025’s visit to Cambodia and our twenty-third Mole season! Over these ten episodes, three guys who are in their Jeff Probst Era – Logan, Bindles & I – are trying to unmask the latest Mole in this 25th anniversary season of Wie is de Mol – continuing with the sixth episode and elimination of Sam.

                    • Was there something to the phrase “King of Deception”?
                    • Rik boards a cruise.
                    • Was the Quiz a good challenge?
                    • Bindles is a pedant.
                    • Logan calls Bullshit.
                    • Will Sam’s Dad be proud of him?
                    • Was the information always going to be the prize?

                    • Is there a twist coming to the pot drain next week?
                    • There’s a delightful bit of schadenfreude in the big setpiece of the season being cursed.
                    • Were there advantages hidden in the market?
                    • How did they pick their own Mole?
                    • I have a bit of a revelation.
                    • Sixth proves to be a cursed placement.
                    • Does Sam need a eulogy?
                    • We have the latest updates to First Suspicions and the Pool.
                    • We lock in our sixth set of suspects.
                    • And there’s a genuinely controversial ending to the episode.
                    • In addition to breaking our hearts, Sam being executed also means Michelle is completely eliminated from the Pool – the earliest she’s ever been eliminated! I still have Maaike, Sophie & Roos – and am now guaranteed a finalist – while Logan has Nora & Stijn.

                      Spoilers for the ending!

However, there were two switches used during the episode…

For the first time ever, Logan chose to switch – swapping Maaike from my team for Nora on his. In return, I swapped Nora back, but in exchange for Stijn – as under the rules of the Pool, a switch cannot be reversed. This leaves the final teams for the season (at least pending a Michelle Chaos Switch!) as Nora & Maaike for Logan and Stijn, Sophie & Roos for me.

                      • How would the Mole have played the sculpture challenge?
                      • Logan picks a fight with Buddhists.
