“Jay-Z” Carter will soon acquire a “significant ownership interest” in an NFL team, reports TMZ, making him the first black person to be an owner in the league’s history. The team itself was not disclosed, but a source told the site that the deal is imminent and that Carter “wants to continue to be a change agent for the NFL”—the old, change the system from within, while of course profiting, which rarely works out because, by the time you look up, you’re Robert Johnson. During said presser, Jay did not do well when repeatedly asked about former NFL player Colin Kaepernick, who has been effectively blackballed from the league for kneeling for black lives during the 2017 NFL season. He defensively responded to questions about Kaepernick with statements such as: “I think we’re past kneeling...I think it’s time for action.”

Jay previously owned a share of the NBA’s Brooklyn Nets, in which he purchased a $1 million stake in 2004, but even that deal was controversial in that many believe it sped up the hyper-gentrification tearing up his beloved, native Brooklyn. Jay has long been in the sports realm, and founded Roc Nation Sports management in 2013, which has signed players such as MLB’s Robinson Cano, the NBA’s Kyrie Irving, and the NFL’s Dez Bryant and Saquon Barkley. TMZ reports that because Jay is not “an NFL agent and does not take part in the operations of the NFL players in Roc Nation,” his interest in Roc Nation Sports would not preclude him from owning a team.

Oh, and back to Kaepernick (because until he’s signed, it’s ALWAYS going to come back to that); Jay said during the Wednesday press conference that he spoke to Kaep, but Kaepernick’s longtime girlfriend Nessa Diab contradicted that. Kaepernick himself did not comment directly on the deal but tweeted that that very day marked the three year anniversary of the first time he took a stand (in this case, a seat) against “systemic oppression.” What’s really good? #realtalkpodcast

I was invited by the assisted principal to feature my podcast and expose some of the young people to the advantages of making good decisions in school and in their community. I was blessed with the opportunity to talk to Charles King founder of the non-profit H.O.W.L. and how it came about. He touched on some of his hardships growing up and how he turned his life around. Washington, D.C. has more at-risk youth than almost every state in the nation, according to a new study looking at "idle and disconnected" youth across the U.S.

The report, which was released Wednesday by WalletHub, cites poverty and homelessness among other factors going into that number two ranking. It shows Louisiana is the only state with more at-risk youth than D.C.

The report ranked the District second in the nation in youth drug use, first in youth poverty, first in homeless youth and sixth for youth detainment and incarceration. Despite this alarming statistic I still believe our youth have a chance to succeed through mentoring and organized sports. It is believed that youth having a positive role model such as a mentor helps them in developing interpersonal skills, increasing self-confidence, community involvement, and teaches valuable skills such as goal-setting and decision-making which improve academic and career performance. They find more self-confidence, self esteem, and are able to create big goals for themselves. Additionally, studies show that behavior, attitudes, and relationships improve when a youth has a mentor. ... Being a mentor is a rewarding experience that allows us to be the person our younger selves needed. Mentoring is important, not only because of the knowledge and skills students can learn from mentors, but also because mentoring provides professional socialization and personal support to facilitate success in graduate school and beyond. Quality mentoring greatly enhances students' chances for success. #realtalkpodcast

Marriage is one of those things that can be challenging and takes work for it to survive. As a black man it’s not easy at all to always do the right thing and everything isn’t always our spouses fault. There are 2 people in the relationship and in most cases we as men can do better in certain situations that can change the outcome. In most case men make mistakes but, in others men will fight to keep the marriage. I had the opportunity to speak to a few men that I’ve known since 2011 and we all had different situations and as you’ll hear men bend but don’t Break! A opinion is a view or judgment formed about something, not necessarily based on fact or knowledge. A fact is a statement that can be proven true. An opinion expresses someone's belief, feeling, view, idea, or judgment about something or someone. Facts are statements that can be shown to be true or can be proved, or something that really happened. It’s ok to voice your opinion about a certain situation or topic but, that doesn’t mean someone will see your opinion as valid. Someone else can disagree with you and share there viewpoint. It’s funny how when this happens people feel attacked. The bottom is if you can’t handle others not seeing eye to eye with your opinion without feeling like they are attacking you then you need to keep your thoughts to yourself. We have different opinions based off our pasts experiences and we all aren’t going to see certain situations the same way period point blank. We have to be respectful with out language towards one another and maintain a higher standard regardless of someone else’s point of view. Don’t let an opinion tear us down! #realtalkpodcast.

On this Father’s Day I wanted to give my brothers and someone we all looked up too an opportunity to reflect on our common bound. We’ve all lost our father’s and we all have different perspectives on the impact of loosing them. This was a rare moment as we talked about what father’s day looks like and what it means to them now. #realtalkpodcast

This is one of those real moments that gives you a since how far you’ve come and how blessed you really are. This was a conversation that reminded me that my time on 6st has impacted me more than I thought. Big John and I have been connected since he was 12 yrs old and that bond will never be broken. I was able to catch him reminiscing and hit record hoping I could allow him to give his uncut perspective on how far we’ve actually come growing up in the “parking lot”. There’s a back story to everyone and he’s been one of the best remember it all. #realtalkpodcast

LBD Socials was established in September 2011. It was initially a means for a variety of women to come together off common terms to celebrate one another. This was their opportunity to step outside their normal everyday roles and enjoy simply being a woman; to delight in the presence of their fellow woman who just like them were mothers, professionals, wives, care takers, and entrepreneurs alike. They started with the concept of the LBD Socials because every woman has that staple "LBD" (Little Black Dress)  that makes them feel sexy and powerful. They began with a dinner of 6 friends and matured over the years to an event honoring Breast Cancer survivors in 2015, which brought together over 130 women and men. They decided to “take a break” from doing the larger events and turn their focus to the community aspect of their initiative. LBD has some amazing volunteers that makes it all feasible. They have joined forces with several other groups providing support with food and toiletry drives, in addition to getting out and serving the community one meal at a time. LBD has been serving at Calvary Women’s Services in Washington, DC for 5 years now. Calvary Women’s Services empowers women and helps them get out of homelessness. Calvary provides transitional and permanent housing services to women that enables them to make lasting changes in their lives. Calvary also provides therapy, mental health services, employment and educational services to assist the residents with obtaining the necessary life skills and education to obtain and maintain gainful employment through their Step Up and LEAP programs; another jewel in the city. #realtalkpodcast

We touched on a few social topics like the up hill battle of the black man being respected, politics, the treaty of 1866 and the economic advantages of other races.
