You can be brilliant at work and still lose your marriage at home. I see it every week. Most of the men I coach are what I call the “intelligent people pleaser.” They’re smart, successful, and analytical, and they’ve solved every problem in their life by thinking their way through it. Except at home. With their wife, the same strategy that works everywhere else falls apart, and it’s easy to conclude she’s the problem. In Episode 2 of Reclaim the Throne, Drew and I get into why that happens and what actually fixes it. Cold plunges and 5 a.m. journaling won’t save your marriage. Neither will “holding space.” What works is understanding how she’s wired, then doing the internal work to lead from your chest instead of your racing thoughts. We cover:→ Why intelligence isn’t the same as wisdom, and why your wife can feel the difference→ The two paths every husband faces: small daily self-betrayals, or doing what’s right even when she doesn’t like it→ Why your wife will respect you exactly as much as you respect yourself→ The pattern I see in about 80% of the men I work with: he backs off, chaos follows, and she blames him for it→ How structure, not constant short-term happiness, is what actually lets her flourish→ Why low testosterone is quietly wrecking men’s confidence, and what changes when it’s fixed→ Why your marriage is the best training ground a man will ever getIf you want to change the world, fix your marriage first. Everything you learn there carries over to everything else.Where to go next:If this landed, book a call to explore working with us directly: https://sovereignmancoaching.com/questionnaire Join our free course here: https://www.skool.com/sovereign-man-free-community-3738Subscribe if you want the rest of this series.Socials:Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/the_sovereign_manTikTok - https://www.tiktok.com/@the_sovereign_manCHAPTERS00:00 Welcome to Reclaim the Throne00:35 The “intelligent people pleaser”02:51 Intelligence vs. wisdom03:24 Why most relationship advice fails men06:06 Men, women, and relationship dynamics10:25 Feminism’s effect on culture and marriage18:00 Is masculinity being discouraged?19:11 The Wheel of Time analogy25:09 How cultural beliefs show up at home30:32 The trap of self-betrayal in marriage31:13 Why “taking the hits” doesn’t create peace36:10 Testosterone, confidence, and conviction39:32 Why testosterone levels are declining42:57 Strong men as a cultural solution46:20 Fixing your marriage as a starting point48:08 Final thoughts and how to connect#MattEnns #ReclaimTheThrone #MarriageAdvice #SaveYourMarriage #DivorceProofMan
Most men aren't lazy. They're uninitiated. That's the idea underneath this whole episode, and it's the reason I named the show Reclaim the Throne.I sat down with Drew Weatherhead, a Jiu-Jitsu black belt and someone who has thought hard about what men actually need, to talk about why so many of us feel passive, disconnected, or unsure of our place in our own marriage and family. Not because we don't care. Because nobody ever took us through the door.We get into radical responsibility, the kind that starts with you examining your own patterns before you point at anyone else. We talk about maturity and initiation, and why so many men are walking around in adult bodies with unfinished business inside them. And we spend real time on the king, warrior, magician, and lover archetypes, including what the king actually does: he comes back from the wilderness to fight the chaos and create loving, structured order. My position in here is a specific one. I critique modern feminism and I critique the red-pill reaction to it, because both are answering the wrong question. Rejecting one script by copying its mirror image doesn't make you free. Here's the part I want you to sit with. When the king is right within himself, the kingdom is right outside of himself. Your marriage doesn't change because you found the right argument. It changes because you became a different man to live with.If you're a man who has been carrying this quietly, you're in the right place. We need to be more than a support system. In this episode:00:00 — Introducing the show and its audience01:18 — What "reclaim the throne" means03:16 — Critiquing feminism and red-pill thinking06:27 — Cultural forces shaping masculinity08:22 — Radical responsibility and personal change12:17 — Identity and orientation when men are struggling13:44 — How earlier family dynamics can affect marriage16:01 — Rites of passage and maturity18:03 — Why I focus on the man first18:53 — C.S.
