Today at Reclaiming Earth, our guest is Jill Wagner. Jill is a global leader in establishing seed banks for large-scale reforestation projects, providing in-country training and infrastructure support. As the Director of the Joseph Rock Arboretum on Hawaii island, she oversees ecological restoration, teaches land management and reforestation, and trains global partners in seed banking.
With decades of experience in native ecosystem restoration, Jill has led projects for numerous organisations, including the State of Hawaii, the National Park Service, and The Nature Conservancy. She founded Future Forests Nursery and the Hawaiʻi Island Seed Bank, dedicating her life to preserving biodiversity and supporting community-led forestry projects.
Jill works with international partners to create strong foundations for reforestation, emphasising biodiversity and sustainable practices. She fosters strategic partnerships to develop conservation strategies addressing gender equity and climate justice, with projects across South America, Africa, Central Asia, India, and the United States.
Jill's holistic approach to climate action promotes healthy ecosystems, economic development, and sustainability.
