Joseph and Eli continue in the theme of Scripture, and how those in the Bible Belt ought to consider approaching it. Both in this episode and the previous one, they highlighted passages that revealed Jesus and our NT authors commonly referring to Scripture "as a whole." This "whole" approach to Scripture seems to be very important in how we understand its usefulness.

In this episode, Joseph and Eli finally begin the journey of addressing certain ideas within the Bible Belt Culture that need revisiting; starting with -- the Bible itself. Christians within the Bible Belt know that the Bible is important, but the way that they approach and read it is equally as important.

Join Joseph and newcomer Eli Sorrow in the mission of Reclaiming the Character and Mission of Jesus within the Cultures that have a distorted Him.  In this episode, the two set out to lay the ground work for the 'why' behind this Podcast.  

Here we are; a year later and we are back! 

Come with the Reclaiming the Bible Belt Podcast, as Joseph, joined with two new friends -- Gabe and Eli -- set out to tackle the next Theme; "Just Have Faith."  Within the Cultural Christianity of the Bible Belt, as well as America at large,  Faith is a concept with many definitions and connotations.  It's important to let Scripture set the standard for what we mean by the word "Faith."  

In this episode, Joseph and Phillip unpack the expectation and baggage that comes with phrase "I Believe In Jesus."  Within the Bible Belt's Christianity, this is also often communicated as "I Know Jesus," or "I've Met Jesus."  However you may come across it, it is safe to assume that not everyone in our communities are always on the same page.  Joseph and Phillip begin by discussing different 'versions' of Jesus that have arisen, specifically in regards to the preferred taste of the Bible Belt. They offer -- in love -- suggestions that challenge the potential harms that come with over-emphasized characteristics of Jesus.  

Later, the discussion shifts to establishing a few healthy themes that the Bible seems to particularly stress about Jesus's character.  While Jesus's personality and characteristics are bountiful -- and capable of connecting with virtually anyone -- if they overshadow the claim and implications of Messianic Kingship and the Incarnation, we are at risk of misrepresenting Jesus to ourselves and to the world.  Let's dive in!

In this episode, we take a pause on our "I Believe in..." Overview Theme.  Joseph sit's down (well, sort of -- from across the country) with guest and high school best bud, Micah Houghton.  Joseph and Micah grew up together in Northeast Georgia and experienced much of the same when it came to their spiritual development.  Nowadays, Micah lives out in Colorado, providing a differing perspective of reality than that of the Bible Belt.  Joseph allows Micah to discuss his perspective on the mission behind Reclaiming the Bible Belt Podcast, given that he grew up in the Bible Belt, and now lives as a Christian in a far different reality.  

In this episode, Joseph and Phillip zoom in on the first topic presented in the "I Believe in..." Overview Theme discussion.  They begin by addressing the dangers of imprinting our own version of God into our beliefs.  

Later, they make an attempt to provide biblical insight into what we mean when we say the word 'God.'  

And then to close, they discuss some of the important aspects of truly getting to know and following the God of the Bible.
