In our fast-paced, screen-saturated world, many children are growing up with quick thumbs but slow tongues. They can text a meme or reply with emojis in seconds, yet struggle to hold eye contact or articulate their thoughts clearly. Conversations are becoming rare, especially meaningful ones. And yet, God designed us for connection—real, soul-deep connection that’s nurtured through healthy communication. As godly parents, it is our calling not only to monitor what our children say but to teach them how to say it—with respect, empathy, and intention. More than that, we must also show them how to listen, really listen, with hearts open and ready to understand. We live in a time where silence fills the dinner table while devices light up the room. But we don’t have to accept that as the norm. We can model and teach the beauty of conversation, the healing power of kind words, and the depth that comes from simply being fully present.
