ReconCinemation

It's Thanksgiving Eve and it's time for the ReconCinemation Team to break in the holiday season! This week, the Bad Boyz of Podcasting are looking back at a holiday "classic" with 1991's DUTCH! From the interesting casting choices & whether or not they worked to Ed O'Neill's status as a leading man for feature films, to the performance by a very young Ethan Embry (née Randall), to road trip movies. Plus, a very deep discussion about John Hughes' films and their problematic nature, where this one stands among them, Hughes' status in 1991, how DUTCH holds up today and so much more!

ReconCinemation is back with Part 1 of a blockbuster double-feature! Jon sits down with KIMBERLY BECK for a chance to walk through her experience not only on Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter, but her career as a whole!  From her early beginnings working with Jimmy Stewart, Alfred Hitchcock & Lucille Ball, to what life was like as a child star to becoming a pop star in Australia to her experiences on Roller Boogie & what she's up to today. At the heart of the interview, Kimberly takes us into her memories about coming aboard the Friday the 13th franchise, working with Joe Zito, Tom Savini, Corey Feldman & the rest of the cast, the physical challenges of making The Final Chapter, what was going on in her life during production, why Trish Jarvis never returned to the series & much, much more!

Come join us as we celebrate the career of and catch up with KIMBERLY BECK!

As Shocktober continues, it's time that the ReconCinemation team tackle the origins of one of the biggest horror franchises in history: A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET! This week, Jon, David & Brent explore the world of Wes Craven, his personal background & how it shaped this film, the development of the film through Craven's early years in the 70's, the casting, and the discovery of Robert Englund. Plus, symbolism in the film, the incredible special effects, the impact of the Freddy Krueger character on pop culture, the difference between this film and the others in the franchise and so much more!

Shocktober continues with Part 2 of this year's lineup! This week, Jon, David & Brent are back with an extra deep-dive into Fred Dekker's THE MONSTER SQUAD! The evolution of the story, homages to the classic Universal horror films of the 30's & 40s, Fred Dekker/Shane Black team-ups, the casting of the film, the film's failure and eventual cult status, it's return to popularity in the late 2000s, and the biggest question of all: do the language and characterizations hold up today?

Wolfman's got nards... it's THE MONSTER SQUAD!

The ReconCinemation team is back with a dive so deep only James Caan can pull them out! This week, Jon & David are breaking down Michael Mann's 1981 classic, THIEF! The early days of Michael Mann, the importance of imagery in his films, recurring themes in Mann's works, the casting of James Caan, where Caan's career was in the early 80s, his intense performance, the origins of the story & how it evolved, where the film ranks among Mann's works, how the film holds up today and where Thief plays into Jon's Driver Unification Theory!
