Record Roundtable

We have returned for one special episode and another update on the status of the podcast. Things remain questionable for us at the moment and we ask that you take this time to maybe go back and find episodes you have not listened to yet and find some goodies. Also don't forget to check out the back catalog of our sister podcast, Good Band Bad Band. Thank you all for listening and sharing in our love of music.

The announcement speaks for itself. Or maybe you only looked at the description because I told you to? GOOD. I didn't forget. It's there. Look down.

Here at Record Roundtable, we're not afraid to admit that we like punk, and that maybe we listened to a lot of it growing up. However, there exists a band from our youth that really shine as an example of the genre in the 2000's, and have changed enough over the years to remain relevant in our lives. That band is Brand New, and we think you really need to listen to them. So maybe just check out this episode, then check out Brand New. Ok? Great.

We have one more post rock episode for you wonderful listeners to devour, and spoiler, we forced Jared to listen to multiple Icelandic post rock albums. It was such a great time. This week we're talking about Sigur Ros. With a mixture of post rock and synth heavy ambient sounds, Sigur Ros have created music that attracts listeners from different genres and have given them a career that includes many features in film scores. Listen in and see if Jared survived the week and what we think about Sigur Ros.

Hi, are you ready for a new episode? Are you ready for new punk? Well sort of new. This week we are talking about Green Day, who is not really new punk anymore, but that's OK. A band that each of our hosts grew up listening to and forming some pretty solid musical likings around, Green Day made their place with their major label debut and were even able to find a new crowd a decade later with their early 2000s popular release. Are you wondering which albums I am referring to? I guess you should just listen in to find out and enjoy some 90's and 2000's punk.

We're walking right outta May and straight into June, but we can't leave a month without telling you all about the music we listened to. All three hosts are in house to share the stories and songs that got them through another month, and now you have to sit there and hear us talk about them like for some reason you keep doing. STOP THAT.

What it is? Hope all of you are ready for some long lasting, genre defining music from an artist that we are convinced will potentially never go away. Is that a good thing or a bad thing, I guess you will have to listen to find out, but this week we are talking about Madonna. Some of you may not know that she's not just an 80's artist, and some of you may not even know much about her 80's career. What you will know, once you listen to this episode that is, is that she has transformed pop forever and has remained relevant for nearly 40 years, wow.

Welcome back listeners, I hope you're ready to get angry. Maybe even full of rage, because this week we are covering Rage Against the Machine. The politically motivated, rap-rock genesis like no other. A band that paved the way for so many others and whose members would break out into their own solos projects. Come check out Rage and all their glory.
