This session briefly describes the lives of the four Imams. It also covers basic introductions to Islamic Legal Theory, such as the Takleefi Rulings and the Ahkam Wad’iyyah and some of the Islamic Legal Sources as they are discussed in the science of Usool al-Fiqh.

Description: This session continues with the Sunnah, which is the second primary source of Islamic law. It defines the reference of the term Sunnah and provides insight into the relationship between the Qur’an & Sunnah.

Description: This session starts with highlighting the methodology of the companions in addressing matters of law. It speaks of the unique aspects of growth during the time of Rightly Guided Caliphs. It then addresses some of the challenges that had arisen during the Umayyad Caliphate, which include the division of the Ummah, deviation of the Caliphs and the dispersion of the Scholars.

Description: This session describes how the Islamic sciences continued to develop during the Abbasid Caliphate. It identifies freedom of thought, support of the Caliphs, scholarly debate, and the inscription of sciences as contributing factors for the growth of Islamic Law.

This session discusses the need for revelation and the need for legislation. In doing that it compares Divine Law to man-Made laws. It highlights the relationship between reason and revelation, and it identifies some of the greater objectives of Islamic law in preservation of purpose and Fitra and in serving the needs of individuals and societies.
