Recruitment Platforms

Listen Later

I feel compelled to disconnect from recruitment platforms. They may work for others, but for me, it's a waste of time and a ten-year activity that leads nowhere.

It's the longest dysfunctional relationship I've ever had, and it's a forced one. Of course, if I couldn't be online on these platforms, I would. They don't teach you anything, only offer you premium fees when you are broke and it's a lot of work to apply.

What are my chances of finding a job and surviving if I don't apply online in 2025?

The first non-functional platform was EURES. Aside from babysitting with a university degree, other job offers were occasional. Job platforms in Spain will follow with the disconnection, as they are also in the 10 years of use without satisfaction. The Catalan recruitment platform made me an interview offer and when I arrived there I realized they thought I was Italian because of my surname...Regarding the recruitment situation in Romania, I prefer not to even start the conversation.

Like everyone else, I'm not perfect, but I have some important diplomas at hand and a long list of skills, some of which are rare. These skills aren't visible on recruitment platforms, and in fact, appearance is so important that I can't even add a photo to my profile because it would automatically place me in categories I don't belong in.

How are we supposed to survive, and meet our basic needs? I don't dream of having a house, a car, or a family. I'm a realist. I'm talking about basic needs, a universal concept that remains unmet.

So, what happens to those excluded from the system? What happens if someone can't find a job? Do we survive from nowhere? Are we the same? Is support just a word? Are women forced to get married in order to survive? Are people willingly left to die by the dynamics of the system? Is it wise to have a tech city if the approach is contrary to human rights?

By observing the dynamics of job opportunities in Europe over a decade, and having more jobs than ever imagined, I've noticed exclusion, as a chain reaction, in European recruitment. Is there an inclusion strategy for the over-40s, or are we practically dead for this society?
