This week on RED-C Roundup our host Dr. Thaddeus Romansky visited with Kevin Pesek, Director of Faith Formation at St. Mary’s Catholic Center in College Station.  Thaddeus and Kevin spoke in this episode about the life and teachings of Pope Benedict XVI.  They began by pondering the essential encyclicals, writings, and homilies by Pope Benedict.  They continued by recalling the multiple ways that Pope Benedict and his teachings impacted their personal journey of Faith.  Kevin and Thaddeus also spent some time comparing the three potificates of Pope John Paul II, Pope Benedict XVI, and Pope Francis. The final part of their discussion was on various aspects of the Faith, including sacraments, grace, living what the Church teaches, prayer, conversion, the Blessed Virgin Mary, and loving Christ with our whole heart, and Pope Benedict’s teaching and perspective on each.

In this week's episode of RED-C Roundup, host Deacon Mike Beauvais visited with Wyatt Parlow, 4th year seminarian for the Diocese of Austin.  Deacon Mike had Wyatt first talk about his faith life growing up in his home and his parish, followed by his first call to the priesthood in his first year of college.  Next, they spoke about his next steps after receiving the initial call, including his visit with a local priest, as well as his parents.  Finally, they discussed seminary life and what his challenges and rewards are in living this life.

In today's episode, our host, Deacon Mike Beauvais, visited with Fr. Greg Gerhart, the Vocations Director for the Diocese of Austin.  Deacon Mike and Fr. Greg discussed first his own personal vocations story, including his original call to the priesthood and the joys and challenges that led to his ordination, and his own vocation as a pries today.  They also spoke about the role of the Vocations Director in a diocese, and how the office of vocations promotes the universal call to holiness of all Christians and highlights the unique calls to the priesthood and religious life.  

This week on RED-C Roundup, our host, Pam Marvin, visited with Rodney Boehm, fertility care practitioner in College Station, and Christopher and Amber Alejandro, natural family planning (NFP) clients and advocates. In this episode, Pam spoke to our guests about NFP and why it is important. They spoke about what NFP and naprotechnology are, why it is becoming so popular, and what the benefits are.  They spoke about the different methods, and the technology behind each method. Lastly, success stories and testimonies were shared, as well as the challenges of using NFP.  The episode wrapped up with the group discussing why they recommend using Natural Family Planning and NaproTechnology. This week on RED-C Roundup our host Dr. Thaddeus Romansky visited with Michael Raia, founder and president of Studioio Liturgical Design and Consulting, and liturgical designer expert on sacred church architecture. Thaddeus and Michael first spoke about the Feast Day of the Dedication of St. John Lateran and it’s significance in the area of church architecture. This was followed by a discussion of Sacrosanctum Concilium and it’s guidelines on sacred art and architecture.   The final points of discussion were on the sacred art and architecture of the building and design of the new St. Mary’s Catholic Church in College Station, just outside of the RED-C Catholic Radio studios. 

This week on RED-C Roundup our host Deacon Mike Beauvais visited with Tom Nash, internationally renowned Catholic apologist, speaker, and writer. Tom works with EWTN, Catholic Answers, the National Catholic Register, Catholic World Report, Ave Maria Radio, and many more organizations.  Tom was in studio for this episode to talk about his endeavors and what brought him to our RED-C listening area. Tom also shared a little about the life of a Catholic apologist, and what his favorite aspect of this is. Deacon Mike also spoke with Tom about his most recent books, specifically 20 Answers: The Rosary, What Did Jesus Do? The Biblical Roots of the Catholic Church, and Biblical Roots of the Mass. 

On this episode of RED-C Roundup, host Judy Comeaux visits with Sheera Helms, Director of the Elizabeth House Maternity Home.  Judy and Sheera spoke about the day to day operations and needs of the Elizabeth House, as well as the needs of the organization, which recently was blessed with the opportunity to open their second house.  Sheera shared stories of the ladies who are helped by the Elizabeth House and the impact that their stays have had on the ladies and their entire families.

This week on RED-C Roundup our host Deacon Mike Beauvais visited with J. Budziszewski, professor of government and philosophy at the University of Texas, Austin, where he has taught since 1981. Professor Budziszewski specializes in ethics, political philosophy and the interaction of these two fields with religion and theology.  Deacon Mike first spoke with Professor Budziszewski about his new book, How and How Not to be Happy, in which he draws on decades of study to dispel the myths and wishful thinking that blind people from uncovering lasting fulfillment.  Deacon Mike‘s interview questions help J. Budziszewski explore his life history and his teaching experiences now, and how the listener can attain happiness—and just as importantly, how not to.
