In the wake of cultural hostility, we take a moment to address what it means to have Jesus as the source of our love. In today’s sermon, we address that love we produce will come from what we abide in. Therefore, if we want to love others like Jesus would, we can’t just go through the motions, we must abide in His love.

In this new series, we’re going finish off our theme for the year of “Life On Mission” with the idea that Love is the ultimate mission. In today’s sermon, we’re going to address that love is not just something we feel, but it’s a person named Jesus. Therefore, if we want to know what love is, we can’t just go through the motions, we must have a relationship with God, who is the fullness of love.

Walking with God is intimate and personal. However, the ways of the world seem to offer us counterfeit versions of that same intimacy. They draw us away from knowing who God truly is, which as a default, draws us away from his love. In this message we will see that true love starts with the true God—so don’t settle for a lie dressed as Him.

Walking with God can be a narrow and challenging road. However, the path of devotedly walking with Him leads to life that the world can simply not offer. Although the world and people in it will try to offer us an enticing life, their ways of living are truly deceptive. These ways only lead to destruction. Therefore, to live devotedly to God, we must choose to abide in Him and seek devoted relationship to Him.

As we come out of Resurrection Sunday, we celebrate the reason for the season: The Resurrection. However, much of the world has seemed to neglect that the resurrection happened and even if it did, we have no proof of it. For this special Easter message, we are going to examine a few pieces of proof that will help students wrestle and examine for themselves the proof behind the greatest miracle of all-time. Additionally, we will talk about how just because we have proof for something does not mean we automatically have faith in it. We will see that wrestling with intellect pushes us closer to Jesus and faith in Him

As we begin our sermon series through 1 John, we see God wants us to walk with Him. Through walking with Him, we get to know Him better, and that is the whole point of the book of 1 John: That we would truly know Jesus—and in knowing Him, avoid sin and faithfully live His way. This week, as we examined 1 John 1:1-2:2, we saw that walking with God requires complete openness in surrender, just as our Savior fully surrendered in openness for us.

On March 17, we had a panel dedicated to help the youth ministry answer some of the toughest questions about the Christian faith. The panel consisted of Pastor James, Lead Pastor Lane Greenleaf-Perez, and George Fox Professor Dr. Joel Mayward. Enjoy listening to the conversation and how they all break down these tough questions by seeking the person behind the question.
